Thumbs up Trader Joe's

i went grocery shopping at Trader Joe's tonight for the first time ever, and i think i'm in love. my mom has been raving about it for a long time, and one finally opened in Milwaukee a few months ago. it's about 30 minutes away from where i live, but totally worth the drive.

for anyone who has never heard of Trader Joe's... www.traderjoes.com

super high quality foods and it's less expensive than my normal grocery store.

so yeah, for $51.58 i got

- prosciutto
- smoked mozzarella
- 2 different kinds of crackers
- white corn tortilla chips
- 3 bean and beef chili
- olive tapenade
- salsa autentica
- tomato and basil marinara
- whole wheat penne noodles
- some fresh italian bread
- roasted & salted pistachios
- pomegranate white tea
- orange spice rooibos tea
- 2 buck chuck chardonnay
- italian grapefruit soda
- sushi

fucking deal! who else is obsesssed? what are your favorite items?

Trader Joe's has been my parents' and my friends' supermarket-of-choice for quite a while now.

You have good taste, lucid.

trader joe's is awesome because they make their own products. and their wine is cheap and good

Posted by Nostalgic on Feb-07-2007 04:45:

their prices are pretty shit other than the 99 cent dozen eggs

My sister in NY and I love Trader Joe's, for their organic foods selection and pricing. I have to see, if there's one in my area. Thanks for the reminder!

EDIT: No Trader Joe's anywhere, in this state!!!

yeah that whole list of food for $51, pretty shitty to me

Trader Joes is awesome, except for the fat old Russians that move REALLY slow and the occasional screaming hippy loitering outside. It's still well worth it to go there though.

Trader Joe's is awesome, great place to get booze. The regular food is fantastic albeit a little expensive. However, their wine selection is the shit! Bunny and I got 8 bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne for $30.

I've never been much on Trader Joe's, but I've never been able to find a place that sells decent Orange Chicken (which is the best food in the world). I think I'll be stopping by there one of these days.

God, I'm hungry now.

I shop at Trader Joe's every week, the prices in general for stuff like meats, cooking oil, sauces, fruits, juices, etc are pretty expensive

her list was nothing more than cheeses, tea, what else...chips?
"olive tapenade
- salsa autentica
- tomato and basil marinara
- whole wheat penne noodles"

i can't live on that crap, i need my meats, fish, veggies everything and i usually end up spending 80 - 100 dollars each trip, not exactly inexpensive for a college student.

so shove that rolley eye up your ass

yeah same, i was really hesitant to try it, but one of my friends swore by it and i always get chinese with him so i know we got the same standards
honestly, its suprisingly good
not quite restaurant quality, but still holds its own
and definitely get it with the jasmine rice (i think its jasmine)
the rice is in the freezer section, maroon-ish box, rice is microwavable and comes out suprisingly nice

I'm starving, the only thing good in the house right now is Honey Nut Cheerios, and you're telling this to me? You, sir, are evil.
