Worm Popper Long time listener, 1st time mixer

Hey Everone

I just did my first Trance mix. I've discovered that house is easier to mix than trance...imo. After redoing my set 3 times I've come to the conclusion that still being a novice DJ, I will always have some problems with my mixes but I think this version has the least amount. I would love some feedback on my track selection or anything you think needs to be addressed.

Enjoy!

Thanks Double Threat! Any comments are most welcome...because my mom says I'm great, but I think she's biased

what did you use to mix this? I am listening to it now. Good stuff so far, I am liking it

Aren't mom's always biased?

Thanks,

I'm using the DJ console MK2, it's an mp3 controller. Here's the link.

I use Virtual DJ software (it came with controller) in conjuction with the deck. I'm going to switch over to Traktor at some point.

I've made 2 house mixes and a mellow mix as well. But I promised my brother's girlfriend I would make her a trance mix. So you're listening to the product.

your getting there work on the EQs but u will prob do that already with house, but not that bad considering your mixing on that controller.

Keep at it...

Thanks for the feedback. I hear what your saying about the EQ. That's something I've started to notice as I practice more and more. It's really making me want to buy an acutal mixer...some day.

Thanks again!

I have VDJ Pro at home with a USB mixer. I could tell you used something like VDJ cause you can here the kick drums overlap. Its ok though, as you get better you'll be able to cover the overlap sound up alot. Use the BASS knob on you mixer to raise and lower the incoming and outgoing tracks.

Keep practicing, your doing fine, i think this mix is really well done for a first time set

Thanks Rich,

Could I ask you to clarify a bit about the kick drum part. Is this something that is common when using software instead of hardware?

Just curious.

Kick Drum = Bass Drum = Beat

Its the beat of the song. It has nothing to do with the software, its the song that has the beat, you use the software to blend the beats smmothly, thats all

Ok that's what I thought, but for some reason I thought you were implying that if I was mixing on a real deck this wouldn't happen...which I didn't get...but you set me straight. Thanks for the feedback.
