Song ID

Okay, my friend sent me this email... maybe you know what the hell he is talking about :

This song is driving me crazy. I know you've heard it, it's been out for a while. It sounds just like coldplay but no coldplay song I've ever heard. It starts out with some piano notes, then the guy who sounds like coldplay starts to sing, then a fat bass line kicks in. When the guy sings "fly" there's an echo effect and the only other words i remember are "running out of time". Please help. Thanks
