Review: Chab w/ Brad Copeland at Sonic

Holy hell!!!! I think we were all owned last night, I know I told people I thought I was being raped by a chair!!! (Don't give it too much thought!!)

Brad (who is delicious, by the way) had the place alight and really got the party started then Chab just completely fucked us all up with his proggy, tribally, electro sound - tracklist couldn't have been any more perfect for me if I had picked it out myself!!

The crowd was divine, there was lots of room to dance and there was a definite electricity crackling around the room.

This party will be in my top 5 for the year for sure!

Another great night at our favorite place! Tunes were on the money! The vibe has gotten so great - it's almost overwhelming at times.
Great meeting you all... again ;-)
Many thanks to everybody for contributing to the amazing experience - it's NOT all about the music, it's also about the people...

Brad Copeland & Chab totally owned last night... a steady incline of booty shaking beats all night long with a 2-hour climax to top it all off! Such a fantastic vibe on the dancefloor. Sonic is definitely on fire this year with each party better than the next! Thank you so much for everything!

A special thank you to everyone who made my birthday celebration such a wonderful one. The love I felt from everyone was absolutely amazing and I have never felt so safe, loved & totally inspired! You guys are the absolute best & I am so lucky to have you all as a part of my life!

Love you ALL!!

Terrific vibe last night. One of those nights you wish would never end. Yvonne, I am so glad you had a great birthday -- you are amazing...

Anyway, I know it has been said here before, but I think it bears repeating, that Brad Copeland is a first class dj and an even better guy. Got a chance to speak to him after his set, and was blown away with how in tune he was with the crowd and his determination to build the energy in the room leading up to Chab...R-E-S-P-E-C-T....

Speaking of Chab. Just one word: spectacular.

BTW, I am so looking forward to the return of Jimmy (my little bro) this weekend -- it's been way too long...can't wait to enjoy Rauhofer, Fortier and Three with the dude who seriously elevated my knowledge/love of EDM and introduced me to so many great people/friends that are now such an important part of my life...(yes, you all know who you are)

Last night had all the things that made it a great dancing experience. Its not easy to describe in words the energy that is felt on the dancefloor, especially those incredible moments, and they definitely happened last night. The crowd was amazing. The music was fantastic, both really, really good sets by Brad Copeland and Chab. The music flowed perfectly, building up beautifully, taking us away.
There was lots of room to dance, very comfortable and safe. The sound system at Sonic rocks, and its a pleasure to take in the dcor, and the atmosphere while dancing.

English Rachel and Jungle Fever, it was awesome meeting you, love your energy!

I have 3 words: BRING THEM BACK!
Totally amazing night! The music took me to places i didnt think was possible.. Great bookings! Wonderful meeting Brad! Such a down-to-earth guy... will look forward to hearing him again real soon.

CHAB! Totally awesome! I would say now my #1 best time @ SONIC.

To Sonic: Great job once again, fantastic booking! Superb crowd.

To Yvonne: Love you! Such a warm person with a big heart! Glad you had fun last night, you and Joe are certainly loved!

I didn't want to say that it was your birthday without your permsission and as it wasn't in your TA profile, I didn't want to take the info I had and make it public.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YVONNE, I LOVE YOU VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH!!!!!

Hey Cribby, several come to mind:

* A remix of Skee Lo's "I wish" (haha, awesome tune, I had never heard a remix of this song before...)

* Chab - "Closer to me"

* Marc Romboy vs Blake Baxter - The Club + Satoshi Tomiie - "Up in flame"

* Lee Burridge & Dan F - "Treat em mean, keep em keen" (wicked tune)

* Mogi - "Sommersalz" (Chab remix)

* Elite Force - "Hearts of Darkness" (I remember asking umar if this was a remix of Chemical Brothers "Hey boy, hey girl")

* Pete Heller - "Simpler" (a remix I believe; last track of the night...)

* Uffie - "Pop the Glock" (2006) (he played this once the lights went on around 8:00am)

I have decided that every DJ should close the nigth off with Simpler.
There isn't a better closing track.

For the two and half hours I was there I didn't stop dancing.
Great Tunes + Great Friends = One Amazing Night

I came in to catch the last half of Copeland's set and it was slamming. As per usual, the perfect warmup for the headliner. I'd say he was a bit darker than usual but still kept his trademark "bumpin groove" sound...

Sonic was less busy than usual, but still kinda full. Good to see the Sonic reg's in attendance, I missed you guys!

I caught the first bit of Chab's set, and I can't really say much as I think he was just getting started. But it was interesting, atmospheric kind of. I hear it got really good.

Posted by rabbitjoker on Feb-12-2007 15:36:

Chab also played

Moogwai - "Viola" (housey mix that I've never heard before)
Pier Bucci - "Hey Consuelo" (unknown mix)

Posted by GrooveBuff on Feb-12-2007 15:54:

Did he play "MY MEMORY" ?
