Roll Call: Chris Fortier & DJ Three @ Sonic, February 17, 2007

Chris Fortier

While many people may claim to know Chris sound, with their focus on continually labeling him one thing or another, Chris is equally as focused on his efforts to push back the musical boundaries. It is testament to the man, that he continues to develop his sound and musical direction, after all, as the man says himself I just like to play good underground music, full stop. With a DJ career spanning 15 plus years, he has continually been a crowd favourite, confirmed by his very first residency at the legendary Aahz in Orlando through to more recent residencies at The Cross in London and at Twilo in New York. Since a debut European tour in 1997, Chris has gone on to consistently tour the globe behind numerous singles, remixes and no less than 7 mix albums.

His December Top 20:

1 Square One Vesuvius (Justin Martin Remix) (Freerange)
2 40oz Belt Seat Fasten / Waste Not, Want Not (40oz Music)
3 Animatek My Life For A Moog (Motoguzzi)
4 Justin Maxwell The Tussincussion (Palette)
5 David Gilmore Girls Crimson As Murder (Mogg Naudascher Mix) (Relish)
6 Serafin Berlin Has No Cows (Mountain People)
7 Lissat Voltaxx Fruit Machine (Tigerskin Perc Remixes) (Kickin)
8 Jens Bond Bird Flu ( High Grade)
9 Skewerl Betaserc (SK)
10 Danielle Vigorito Blackout (W/L)

11 H Man 51 Poland Street (Giant Wheel)
12 Kolo Track One (40oz Revisited) (W/L)
13 Jamelia Beware of the Dog (Radio Slave Remix) (EMI)
14 Planet Funk Its Your Time (Different Gear Remix) (Bustin Loose)
15 Samuel L Sessions Sinister (Klap Klap)
16 Alexkid Decibelly (40oz Re-edit) (F Comm)
17 Jobins Cousin Comerte (Cargo)
18 Wink Swirl (Ovum)
19 Sebastien Leger Goulden Moulden (Circle)
20 Chris Fortier Despegue (Fractal / 40oz Remix) (FDX2)

(boldness indicates TUNE!)

DJ Three

Three has quietly and steadily earned the respect of his peers the world over through a handful of truly unique productions and a signature DJing sound spanning through all things house, techno and beyond. This sound, a strong knowledge of tradition capped by a fondness for the cutting edge, continually puts him through a variety of tour dates that show not only diversity in audience, but a genre-bending passion for good music. Echoing his wide tastes as a DJ, the unique sound of his productions has captured a not-so-common cross section of DJ's ears from deep house to techno, and all things in bewteen.

Anyway...CoZo preparty! I wanna go all out this weekend! Who's joining the madness? I've heard nothing but good things about both Fortier and Three, so I'm looking forward to this!

Friday (OPEN) @ SONIC = Gay.
Saturday @ SONIC = Music driven/mixed.

There has been a steady decline of the car wash crew, they have almost become extinct on Saturdays believe it or not.

Took me a while to think of that one, but after the ridiculous that this weekend is bringing, I'm sure I'll think of something better

**EDIT**

As we've found out Andrew, Toronto as a whole needs to know what they are getting themselves into when going to a party. Friday night at Sonic will be a fantastic night of music, but people need to know what to expect. I personally will be attending both nights, as the music is equally stellar between the two.

In a perfect world your edit would be true, but unfortunately the scene we have in this city is incredibly homophobic in comparison to other major cities in North America, hence the reason Sonic was forced to seperate the two nights.

Sad, but reality.

As I told you before, it depends on set times. I'd like to see DJ Three but don't care for Fortier. I really want to check out the new Drink, AND be able to drink lol. Probably come after around 4 or 5 though, again depending who is on when.

Anyone know when Fortier will get behind the decks??

I'll post the set times when I have them, likely Wednesday.

I'm assuming that Fortier will be playing 5-close (or in that neighbourhood).

I was a bit off with my prediction - but actually approve of the OFFICIAL line-up even more

Nevio (1:00-3:00)
Chris Fortier (3:00-5:30)
Dj Three (5:30-close)

Posted by kaniz on Feb-13-2007 18:08:

Unless plans change and I end up there on Friday instead, could be me+5

And, for those who seem to be concerned - it'll be a gaggle of gay bears. Dont worry, we will keep our shirts on and not hit on you heteros.

You should be okay..... although it's likely when you will see the biggest flow of people, we always try to keep the line moving as fast as possible. And we've moved the guestlist to inside the building, so there is no more sorting it out while freezing your ass in line.
