Which is better?? Headphones

Hiya guys..

Ok..I bought hardware a couple of months ago..but now I'm lookin' for some excellent headphones...

Right, I've been using Sony headphones for the past month..but I'm not thrilled with them at all...to weak for my reckoning...so I was wondering what headphones to get out of these two:

1)Pioneer HDJ-1000
2)Technics RPDH1200

They're both about the same price..but was wondering which is better??

I know the Senheiser headphones are the best BUT they're a bit more expensive..so I wanted to know the better of these two.

Thx alot guys!

Cheers

sony mdr-7506

senheiser hd-25

I wouldn't go near the pioneer 1000 headphones, from what i hear they suffer badly from cracking issues. I rekcon just get the hd-25 and never upgrade again. I started of with pioneer dj5000 headphones and recently bought hd-25s from chemical-records.co.uk for $200 cheaper then what they sell for in Australia.

Or go the sony 7605 which ive never heard a bad review about.

he does. The bass is a bit overblown on them and it distorts when you turn them up, and they're heavy as can be. I had a pair & they recently cracked, but they did last a little less than a year & a half. The pioneers sound better, but break more easily.

Technics RPDJ1210's - all the way for me.

(I know you're looking at the RH - but I love the RP's.)

I know the Pios have better sound quality..but break easily..how come??

The RPs don't look as good as the others

I dunno actually, I think the RH's look too similar to the Sony MDR700's - well, if you squnit a bit.

I like how tidy the RPs are, they fit, they're light(ish) and the sound like you want them to.

I bought the Sony 700's when they came out because I loved how they looked - I got rid of them after a couple of months as they were like standing next to a bass bin.. underwater. That was the last time I bought a set of nut-phones based on looks.

Oh well..I tried those black Sony's..can't remember their name..and they were SHITE!!

Armin uses Technics..so that's gotta be atleast kinda good..though the Pioneer ones have some awesome reviews when I googled..so dunno really.

armin doesn't have to worry about them breaking though!

Honestly, don't go by what other's are using. Go with what sounds best to your ears. Everybody's ears are different. I owned all five headphones (Sony's 7506, Sony 700, Pioneer RPDJ1210, Pioneer HDJ1000, and Tecnics RHDJ1200). And honesly, they all have their ups and downs. I'm with Recess on the RPDJ1210. Those baby's lasted me almost 5 years.

Anyhow, you asked about the Technics vs Pioneer...

Sound Quality is about the same, however here's more of a breakdown. Hope this helps. You should really try them before you buy them.

TECHNICS-----
CONS...
Ear cups are Bulky, too big
Uncomfortable
Not enough bass
Heavy
Sound hollow
I had a hard time hearing on the clearly on big systems
Technics should've stuck to the Swivel Mechanism from the RPDJ1210.

PRO...
They look sexy
Replaceable cord

----- PIONEER ------
CONS...
I really haven't had any, but they haven't brake... YET.

PRO...

Really good sound quality and sound clear on loud Systems
Ear cups are just the right size
Not heavy

Massive thx guys...really helpful stuff here...think I'll try'em out for myself as u said..but yea..it'll defo be between the pios and technics...

I have played on both the Pioneer and Technics. Both are amazing.

The Pioneer are smaller, and weight less.

The Technics isolate the sound incredibly well, yet they are a bit heavy but that doesnt bother me too much. The sound is incredibly!

Its all about preference really, you guys cant say that the Technics are in any way bad because that is just bullshit and you know it.

The earcups are pretty small but you get used to them quickly

you paid 180 for the sp version? they're not worth even half that.
you can get the regular 25's for about 150 and they're much better than the sp's.

that's cool. i thought you actually paid 180 for the sp's. now that would have been a waste of money. and if you bought them long ago, the price might have come down since. who knows.

I could swear it was 179 or 189.. anyway they were daaamn xpensive

well what can you do? good headphones are expensive usually. i paid 139 + shipping for my mdr-7506 but i gotta say they're worth every penny!

No one ever gives the AKG-K181DJ any credit. oh well i love'em

Posted by liranoz on Feb-18-2007 00:20:

don't take anything that'll break easily. I have sony 700 and I had to use Epoxy to glow it hehe.
headphones are personal preference, if it's possible, listen to both and take the ones you like.

you can look for review's in google, I do it all the time before buying something new, it's always good to learn opon other's experience.

in any case, I'm sure both of them will not disapoint you.
