delerium silence

just thinking back to the good old days. when i was 16 in ibiza with my best mate. just got into trance that year. went to cream in ibiza and judge jules played delerium silence. i was ruined and loving every second. I'll never forget it.

where were you when you first heard silence in a club ??

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Feb-15-2007 18:38:

Never heard it in a club. I'm guessing you're talking about the Tiesto mix?

The Fade mix is the best.

Posted by lepi1102 on Feb-15-2007 18:40:

you must be joking. tiesto's mix all the way mate

Posted by RapidFire on Feb-15-2007 18:45:

i heard some eurodance mix of it in a club a bout a month ago. it actually wasnt that bad... i mean you cant do wrong with those vocals

and i agree, tiesto's mix > fade's

Posted by Sykonee on Feb-15-2007 18:50:

Well, the original on Karma, obviously.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I find it hilarious that, when it first came out, Silence was barely given a second glance. It wasn't even made a single for a couple years after the fact.

i think fade's mix is overrated. not because it isn't in the OMGTIJS hands in the air style, but just because the bassline sounds silly and the 'climax' is piss weak despite the long & promising build. take the vocals away and it would be a forgettable & very average track without much depth to it

tiesto's may be alot more obvious & overblown but it's executed to perfection.. the first 6 minutes is soaked with atmosphere & the peak never fails to deliver. i've heard it twice in a club, but seeing as both times were a good 4-5 years after the release at classics nights it didn't feel so special

Posted by lepi1102 on Feb-15-2007 19:02:

couldn't have put it better myself
isoterra. loving your work

Posted by Project-K on Feb-15-2007 19:06:

IMO they're both a mockery of the original.

Posted by lepi1102 on Feb-15-2007 19:09:

oh a mockery a. your wrong.... ok. but better luck next time mate.

i wouldnt call the tiesto mix a mockery. its a solid dance version of the tune. but yea the original is tops

It just isn't meant to be a dance tune, making it into one takes away everything that was good about the original.

Posted by lepi1102 on Feb-15-2007 19:15:

i think people are getting a little strayed from the question. i wasn't looking for a scientist's disection of the tune. fucking hell people

Not really. Yeah it wasn't originally meant to be a dance tune, but there are lots of tracks that are remixed into dance tunes, and sometimes..the dance version is better than the original. I love Sarah McLachlan's voice, but the original version of "Silence" is nothing exciting. Tiesto put some excitement into it, not just some dreary, dark and somewhat depressing original. Lots of Sarah McLachlan tunes and Delerium tunes, that weren't meant to be dance tunes..were turned into them, and IMO some are better than their originals.

Posted by lepi1102 on Feb-15-2007 19:21:

ok maybe it doesn't do it for everyone. so heres a better version of the question. what was the first amazing trance tune that you heard in a club whilst wrecked, hense instantly falling in love with it

Posted by Subtle on Feb-15-2007 19:37:

Tiesto remix is cool.. heard it first time on Magik 6. Works well on the floor too, but nothing to die for.

The Michael Woods remix really does it for me.

it's a proper trance track, it's not supposed to climax like an overblown epic track, it's subtle, the build is subtle, the progression is subtle, it stays true to the original which is quite subtle aswell.

that being said, i do enjoy tijs remix aswell, but the original & sanctuary remix blows it out of the water

Frankly, I can't remember those tunes because I was so wrecked at the time.

You people must be out of your minds. The Tiesto remix fucking rocks! I'm not a big fan of Tiesto productions but this is one of his best along with Suburban Train.

Posted by sljiva on Feb-15-2007 20:31:

I think that people who heard Tiesto remix long before Fade's don't really find anything exciting in Sanctuary mix.
But for people (like me) who heard Fade's version two years before Tiesto's, and who like that type of trance, Fade's remix is just much better.
But I would also choose Original over any remix anytime

It's called personal taste.

Fade Sanctuary Remix > *

It's easier to compare Airscape's remix with Tiestos remix since both are more epic and uptempo. However you can grow tired of both of them. But Fades remix is something you can return to several years later and still fully enjoy. A wonderful remix. It's so good that it could do very well without the vocals.

If anything, I'd say the reason is gets so much attention is because it's nothing like Tiesto's mix. Tiesto's mix stands for three things that are now getting a huge backlash on TA:

1. Huge popularity.
2. Epic trance.
3. Tiesto.

Fade's mix is older, it's more "proper", it's less well known and it isn't by a mega-star producer we all love to hate. Part of it is over-familiarity, part of it is agenda-pushing and part of it is simple snobbery. Of course, there are also the people who just plain prefer Fade's mix.

As far as I'm concerned, the Airscape mix is the best and fuck you all.

definitely agree, most mixes of this track get boring quickly but fade's remix is like a good wine
