Hello!

Hi all, want to listen to a great night of music ?
Friday 16th march 2001, battle of the DJs live on Radio 1 . .
A battle between 8 of the worlds best DJs . . .

On Friday March 16th Radio 1's Essential Relief stages the ultimate night out - 8 heavyweight DJs slogging it out - face to face - over 2 decks and a mixer. Radio 1 takes over London's Home club, broadcasting 8 hours of uninterrupted partying with the world's greatest dance DJs.

The most eagerly awaited DJ battle of the year will be beamed live to the UK, with your hosts Pete Tong, Sara Cox and Danny Rampling. Oh, and by the way - you, the listeners & viewers, are the jury... In a 3 round knockout you decide who goes through to the next round by voting here on Radio 1 Online. Throughout the night you will be able to vote and see the results as the DJs play their set.

From 6pm til 2am Pete Tong will be joined by co-presenter Sara Cox at Home's upstairs members bar, the View bar, with the DJs playing in the main auditorium. Danny Rampling also broadcasts his Lovegroove Dance party live from 5th Floor at Home.

The Rules

Round 1: 8 DJs battle it out over 4 heats in a head to head, one on one, battle of the beats. You vote for the winner in each heat right here.

Semi Final: The remaining 4 DJs get the chance to showcase their deck dexterity in 20 minute individual sets. Once again, you vote for the two DJs you want to see fight it out in the final.

Final: The 2 finalists play individual 20 minute sets before entering into a mouth watering one-on-one battle, which will bring the contest to its climax. You will vote for the winner

The draw has been made and the DJs will battle it out against each other in a twenty minute one-on-one battle of the beats. The four winners go through to the Semi Final, but only you can get them there. Tune in on the night, get online, and vote for the winner in each heat.

is someone gonna rip this set and post it or what? too bad it's on a friday, or else i'd do it myself.

Posted by DJ Sarah H on Mar-13-2001 22:17:

Hello! RE-Ripping this set

well depending on time constraints cos of work etc
i want to rip it but if someone else can do it too that would be cool

and if anyone else is going to rip it can u post . .
or possibly due to the length of time its happening over maybe a bunch of ppl could rip different heats, up them to swampys FTP server and then swamper could maybe post them ?

Posted by Ckerr812 on Mar-14-2001 00:04:

Hello!

What would be the best way of recording them....? If it's through the Realplayer? I have cool edit pro?

Posted by DJ Sarah H on Mar-14-2001 19:37:

Hello! ripping

well the way i rip live sets from streaming audio is this:-

my computer is hooked up to my stereo system and on my stereo system i have an audio CD burner
so i just burn the CD in real time
then rip the CD to MP3
thats how i did the radio 1 new years eve sets.
I have not tried to rip straight from streaming audio to my hard drive yet but i can look into it

JON CARTER Vs SEB FONTAINE

Winner = JON CARTER

Thumbs up

Judge played the worst set of tunes ive ever heard and the mixing was unbearable. Fatboy in my opinion won easily. Jon Carter rocked! Im going with Darren in the 3rd and i dont care in the 4th because they are both going to tear it up, but please no more commercial 80's tunes

Shame / Disagreement Bal' of DJs

F%ckin hard stuff from whoever started the battled between Fergie and Carl Cox...
I dunno why Judge played such shitty tunes he could've done da hell of a lot better....

Lets see how Fergie does....

Posted by TraNceFaN on Mar-16-2001 20:46:

Angry not funny

Judge has got better skillz than freakin Slim....he should've picked better records =[

And ya I am listening and recording.

Posted by Redeye on Mar-16-2001 21:06:

Invisible Grin

Im going to go with Fergie over Carter and fatboy over lottie even though i would like to see lottie vs. fergie in the finals

Redeye

Posted by DJ Sarah H on Mar-16-2001 21:09:

Wink Nahhhhh lol

I am going for Fergie and DJ Lottie

it all depends on what the fatboy can pull out of his record box for the next round, i did not like the stuff he played in heat 1, if Judge Jules had played some of the stuff he has been playing on his show on Radio 1 of late He would have beaten Fatboy Slim !

Posted by TraNceFaN on Mar-16-2001 21:12:

Unhappy Too true....

Ya man Judge has nice mixing skillz he knows what tunes r phatt he could easliy beat Fat

Danny is now on spinning sum f^ckin house shit...

Posted by Redeye on Mar-16-2001 21:15:

Invisible Grin

I agree judge should be able to beat Fatboy, but to play all that 80's stuff over good tracks, he shoudl have lost automatically

Posted by Ckerr812 on Mar-16-2001 21:16:

please....Norman cook could eat the judhge for breakfast....His technical skills are the freakin best....I dunno about his music selection though sometimes

Posted by Redeye on Mar-16-2001 21:19:

Invisible Grin

Well in my opinion, none of these djs belong in a battle because they are not cut n scratch dj's. They are commercial dj's that the kids recognize. Im sure if q-bert or prime cuts were in the event, we would see a real battle, but this is just a basic fundraiser, for all the people, not just the club heads

Posted by TraNceFaN on Mar-16-2001 21:22:

Well...

Well speaking of 'phat' dj's Paul van Dyk would show some mad skillz if he was participating or John '00' Fleming or Mauro Picotto with harder stuff....
Oh well I liked Carter's performance or Fergies
it's all good...

Posted by Ckerr812 on Mar-16-2001 21:22:

hehe...I can't stand to listen to Q bert man....freakin scrathcin records sounds so shitty....I scratch my zipper on my coat and get the same sound :P Anyway, this fundraiser is kickin
