I'm sure everyone is assed out right now since.... some ppl just got home from afterparties haha.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Feb-17-2007 17:33:

Hello! quick review before I CRASHHHH

omg gonna ass out (just GOT BACK HOME)

but i gotta say...PVD is the only producer besides Digweed I will go to see this yr in NYC...he def knows how to choose his tracklist...and the whole party was just a perfect combination of choons...surprisingly he didnt drop the regular stuff TOOL NOTHING BUT YOU, FOR AN ANGEL

those were conspicuously absent...got "Modulations - Spirits" "Anthem" - ONCE , New Order's Blue Monday, and maybe even Synsaethesia if im not mistaken... a LOT of old school classics it was insane...

place was def NOT overcrowded..but they did a GOOD job packing us up tight...omg we had to move to the VIP area upstairs...and then i swear, when I heard him throw down Holding Onto Nothing i nearly died....too bad my camera battery had died by then, i would have killed to get it on video

Molly awesome to finally MEET up with you again!!! nice to meet some new TAs and to reunite with the old. man what a great night of reminescing and bonding

wil havae pics and madd videos to post laters...when i come back to reality

peace

btw Summerstage in central park this year is AUGUST 17 and 18!!!!!!!!!! meh we'll see...

man what i wouldn't do for a PVD at Tobacco Warehouse ahhh to give him the TIME he deserves!!!!

ain't got much skill with a camera, but here are a couple of ones that came out ok...think you'll have to wait for brian's pics to really see some crazy shots

anyway, as for the night overall, I had a great time..Porter's opening set was good imo, built it up quite nicely..everything ran a bit late so Paul didn't get on til 12:30 or so but it was def worth the wait..his set last night was def better than his two days @ CP last summer IMO, and maybe better than his first Roseland appearance in March (didn't go in Nov.)...he really banged it out without lettin up at all..pretty relentless all night..only tracks that I recall when he toned it down was Way Out West - Mindcircus (G&D Mix) somewhere durin the middle of his set and Smith & Pledger - Amsterdam, which was towards the end...sorta passed out sittin upstairs durin that one lol..i don't even recall him dropping his usual trifecta of Nothing But You, Time of Our Lives and For an Angel..though i was pretty drunk so I may be wrong..ended the night sorta mellow and finished right before 7am, but besides the last hour or so he really didn't give the crowd a break...sorta reminiscent of his older sets from 2002-2003 ive downloaded, at least in terms of energy..super packed house obviously, thinned out a little bit towards the end but still a decent crowd left at close. good seein a lotta familiar faces, all in all had a great time, and he gave Crobar a proper sendoff lol.

oh, as for renovations...reed room doesn't have any "reeds" obstructing ppl's path anymore, just more tables for what looked like bottle service..you could also see straight into one of the bathrooms above the bar..maybe someone else can explain better but it was really strange.

just back to DC. OMG...best set EVER!!!!! More reviews to come after I get some sleep. Btw..I AM NEVER CHECKING IN MY JACKET AGAIN. THEY STILL HAVE MY JACKET. Since my train ticket was in there, Amtrak claimed that "i lost it" and I had to re-purchase another ticket. Those staff ppl who were working the coats had the worst attitudes.

Posted by kadomony on Feb-17-2007 18:01:

oh wow he played Spirits?
was the the beatpusher mix?

i wanted him to play that so bad at summerstage.

although, it's more of an outdoor springtime choon, imo.

just woke up
night was pretty good
porter played a great opening set i even told him that he said thanks pvd came on a lil late but it was ok he was banging it out not too much tech not too much trance just the perfect blend imo
he dropped mindcircus lol i heard this track 3 times in the past month i cant complain and holding onto nothing was dope
place was mobbed and it was hot as hell on the main floor
and i dunno the crowd dident seem that much into his set alot of people just standing around doin nutin
around 5 pvd got a lil boring too much epic trance
and the sound was ehh imo vol was a lil low
lasers and lighting were on point tho
i left at 6 anyone know wat time he played till?
i liked how they made improvments to the club with taking down all those dumb logs in the hip hop room now its just couches i always hated that
and i like how you can get to the main floor right to the bathrooms they knocked the wall down bout time
nyta's were scattered for most of the night there wassent really a big meeting place unless i dident see it
but good seeing big mike
and meeting colabri lol your a bigger pig then iam with girls ha ha kid was grabbing girls left and right good shit
enigmat
and good seeing wai randomly after i come out of the bathroom from taking a piss you just grabed me i dident even see you but then u left but it was good seeing you for a few
i agree the coat check there is fukin horrible half an hour wait

So it wasnt as packed as it was for Tiesto last year?

Thats the main reason i didnt go, cause i was afraid i wouldnt be able to move

Just got home from the after party.....wow what a fucking night! Paul really brought it for a solid 4-5 hours then kinda lost me at the end but I will give him credit...he always rebounded after a fluffy track. The highlight of the night for me was Art of Trance - Madagascar!!! WOW have not heard this in YEARS!!! SICK!!! Ill get the pics up later this weekend.....rest time.

Posted by djquick83 on Feb-17-2007 18:26:

LOL, I was just talkin to Big Mike about that. Everytime he wears a T-shirt, he throws down like he did when he was wearing a T-shirt back in the day. When he wears a dress shirt, he throws a shitty set and isnt as into it. I guess hes more comfortable in the T-shirt and can work better at the decks.

Still awake rocking out to Buenaventura wishing I had dolby 5.5 surround sound in my room. Can't believe how awesome last night was!!!

Its too expensive to drive the car back and forth.

MMM yeah.... PvD tore it up ! It more than made up for Roseland. He was relentless and really strung the set together well. I think this is in the top 5. The system was tuned in nice too . I spent most of the night front left of stage on speaker and didnt get any ringing.

Yeah I thought the sound was very much in check all night. Didn't really notice any weak points at all. Lets see if they keep it up.

BTW was Crobar different, cause from the pictures it looks the same

First off, pretty much everything was a pvd rework last night since paul has really started to utilize ableton. Hell,he even gave us a 30 min timeframe for him just messing around with ableton with spastik in the background, kept changing the bassline to different basslines that he uses throughout his whole set. My tracklist is not going to be on point till I get back to charlotte on tuesday. I dont have my digital camera cable or all my sets to go through and figure out the track names. But I will say this, the first 3 hours were relentless. He came on at about 143bpms and didnt slow down for nearly 3 hours. When he did get back up it was kinda off and on but it didnt matter, i think he was just trying to give the crowd a break.

Tracklist: If you already said the track, i am just verifying it since there might be some doubt

Dave Spoon - At Night
Way Out West - Mindcircus (G&D Mix)
Modulation - Spirits (Slusnik Luna remix)
Filo and Peri - Anthem
New Order - Blue Monday
Synsaethesia (did not recognize the mix)
Simon & Shaker - Make It (Dub Mix)
Angelli and Nelson - Holding onto nothing
Paul van Dyk feat. Ashley Tomberlin - Complicated
Paul van Dyk - Stormy skies (new remix, not ableton rework)
Kuffdam and Plant - The Ones We Love (Dogzilla remix)
As the rush comes vs Kuffdam and plants - Dream maker (not a fan of ATRC but this was hot)
Giuseppe Ottaviani - Through your eyes (Original mix)
Mac & Mac - Listen (Mac Zimms Dub Mix)
Nu-NRG - Casino
Randy Katana - Fancy Fair 2005

Did I hear Paul Van Dyk - Another way and Nautical Imaginary - Distant Dreams when I was in coat check

I will add to this when i get my camera cable or think of new ones.

Overall, i enjoyed the night alot, i think it was an awesome set. The club was nice and big and the crowd was carrying an awesome vibe.

happy to see positive reviews here..

ive skipped the last couple of pvd shows as i really started to think he was losing his touch.. i just couldnt bear another time of our lives for an angel set.. but wow, did he bring it.

i was very impressed.. a little too packed but his track selection was great.. and he used the abelton to and really pushed the music to a new level.

holding on to nothing
ones we used to love were highlights

he played that tune that armin and schulz like.. i think its 'bissen - exhale'

I havent posted in a really long time, but I thought it would be worth it to state that FINALLY Paul departed from his "usual" batch of tracks to end his set! Woo hoo!

The whole night was great, a perfect mixture of new tracks and semi-old, and despite the fact that his transitions are mechanical nowadays, you can really tell now that he's really comfortable with his Ableton setup......

Tracks of the night:
DT8 Project ft. Andrea Britton - Hold Me Till The End (Truly Deeply Dub)
Paul van Dyk - Otra Dia
--> Probably one of the most under-rated tunes in pvd's arsenal, glad he played it finally!!!!

I feel the same way, to me its been downhill since Nov 4th 2005 at Space in miami. But last night makes me feel a lot differently. I have over a gig in videos but will have to wait till tuesday to start getting them uploaded
