I really wanted to check this out tonight but fatigue and coughs zonked me out.

Good to hear about a successful night

I thought it was an excellent night, especially considering the sub zero temp outside!!!

First time at Fluid and I must say it's an awesome venue!! That main room reminds me of a smaller, nicer version of System's old main room. I can see many good times being had there! The lounge is tight too, reminds me of the Gallery actually.. overall really impressed with the space and as for djing there, certainly has a proper setup to play on!

As for the music, I was really impressed with the djs I saw. I tried to catch a bit of everyone's set because some of the djs I haven't heard before and they all deserve to be there. Hopefully people catch on that there's some extremely talented undiscovered djs in this city and they all play under one roof.

All in all I'd say this night has the elements for success; good music, excellent space, cheap drinks but most of all great people. I'm excited to see what happens when they get some international talent in!

Many thanks to those who came out and thanks also to Christina, Charles and co for having me in.

Hope to see the rest of you guys out soon!

Unfortunately I had to be back in Dundas lastnight, and couldn't make it back to the city in time. Wanted to check out the first night of this weekly, real bad!

Great to hear it was a good turnout, and cant wait to open the main room next week!

Very good opening night all round and I was really impressed to see how many braved the super-chill to heat up to some twisted and funky goodness.

My best find of the night: a ziplock bag full of hot chocolate powder....and ya I tested it to be sure LOL

Best new meeting: 2 drunk as shite Auzzie blokes with girl in tow who just moved here and stumbled in. There were whole conversations where only sign language was working and of course they had mardi gras beads......naturally.

Best Hair: Christina (Easy breezy.......covergirl)

Best outfit: Girl with no pants...seriously, we're talking just a sweater and a belt....maybe boots, I didn't look that far down. "No pants, let's dance"

Best set: mine....screw you all!!! Just kidding, the tunes were very solid from everyone I heard in both rooms and the progression and programming from everyone was great. It's great to see people shine in timeslots they may not be used to.

Thanks to Christina & Charles for the hard work getting the night going....Sean, you too.

Basically, as long as we can't see your junk, you can get into the funk.

..or in otherwords just look presentable.

With a new night one never knows what to expect. Last night at fluid exceeded any expectation that I had. There was a nice sized crowd full of fresh faces..mostly girls and lots of good looking ones too!

Musically, Aaron Mosey and Crandall K deserve honourable mentions for their sets! That mainroom sounds awesome and Mosey had it bumpin. Great job dude, its been way to long since I've seen you spin!

What a great way to wrap up the weekend!

i will proudly give you that award for last night. your programming was perfect. you had the crowd by the balls startring from your first track. its been too long since i have seen you play.

the night as fun but the crowd was a little weird tho, but what can you expect on a sunday night. i saw a person from high school that i havent seen in like 8 years which was pretty random. she never recognized me eventho she knew who i was and told me my life story from timmins. bahaha.

good work those that are involved, and i hope this night is an ongoing success.

I am so happy I decided to hit this jam. I really dig this space - has that sysmem soundbar feel to it (although nothing can ever replace that place for me)....The DJ's were alllllllllllll pounding it out - danced to everyone of your sets - YOU KNOW WHO u r. YOU really cannot go wrong with $3 drinks Crandall K really impressed me great night - i can't wait to do this again - but wont be for a while - hard on a sunday night when you have to work this next day!

Posted by dallastar on Feb-20-2007 02:37:

So yeah - I was there from 10pm and watched the set up, was a little chilly in there but once 1130 came around it started to warm up with body heat from the diskotek beats!

I listened to Rich Taylors set in the main room from 10-11, then listened to RubyJay's set in the side room, and a little bit of Aaron Mosseys set during that same time~ VERY WELL DONE BOYS!!!!Also Dennis Hahn & NUera * Vince Von were awesome as well!

Then @ Midnight, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR I yelled, I listened to Crandell K play in the side room! weeeeeee qwith Laki (prenounced LUCKY) and Mute played and ripped shit up in the main room! was awesome and the 3 dolla make ya holla drinks were good too - and I foruntatly behaved, if I didn't I would have been in a lil' trouble!! I don't think I can handel the PRE drinking business!

Anyways, the toons were fukkin dope and the amount of people that came was excellent for it being opening night and for a party to be on a Sunday! no more Sunday night Karoke for this Gal, Diskotek really reminded me totally of System Sound bar! the same feel, the same Dj's and the Same fukkin energy and I miss System and if you do too I TOTALLY suggest coming out to this lovely night at Fluid!

Dress how ever you want, the funk-key-errrrrrrr the better!

Penny (Girllovingthevibe) & Gabi (endless_summer) took some really excellent pictures of the night, I can't wait to see them!

A bit more shameless self-promotion for the night...

My first time to Fluid and I have to say the venue is really nice! Anyone that braved that bitter cold to get in: cudos to you!!

So it was my first time listening to most of the DJ's there, and I have to say that I was in serious shock from what I heard. I say this as a fan and not some guy trying to plug the night, but the music, technical skill and just energy from all the DJ's I've heard was jaw-dropping!! I couldn't help being reminded of System Soundbar, but when I talked to a few of my friends who came, they blurted out "The music reminds me of System!!"

I didn't get to catch everyone, but Aaron Mossey, Rubyjay, and Dennis Hahn were all top notch in my books! Can't wait for the weeks to come.

I had a great time on Sunday! Thank you all for great tunes. Kudos for the night to Nu Era as he made my nite playing deep techy house-exactly what I needed right then and there! Photos will be up soon. Promise
I will definitely be back to see the old System kids play!

Awesome pictures! Makes my receding hairline look so much worse lol.

I had a BLAST! Great venue (never been before), awesome lineup in both rooms. I just can't believe how incredible everyone played, and the crowd was just as good. Had a little CDJ trouble to begin with but it got fixed 20 seconds before my first song ended...at least everyone understood why the first mix was off lol!

Big props to everyone for playing their hearts out for the opening night. I don't want to pick favourites because everyone had a unique way of ripping sh*t up. But watching Aaron still makes my jaw drop. By far the closest music collection-wise to me, but makes it sound so damn better.

See you all Sunday nights!
