Looking for more psytrance

Can anyone suggest some good psytrance producer/DJ's/groups/sets/etc. I've been listening to a few gigs or so of stuff I ripped off di.fm and a lot of it is pretty damn awsome, but most of what they play there seems to be by unknown/really underground artists, which makes it hard to obtain more of their stuff. I've checked out some Infected Mushrooms tracks, and honestly didn't enjoy them that much, so any good suggestions for what I should search for to obtain good psytrance, or websites which have archives of psytrance tracks/sets, or anything along those lines would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've got about 3 gig of stuff here that disagrees with you, but it's mostly internet radio sets or tracks done by relatively unknown artists, which makes it hard to search further for similar music.

name names, for all i know you might be talking about oldschool goa, early 00's swedish psy, minimal psytrance (though i think that subgenre died a few years back), progpsy, nitzhonot (), or just any full-on barring IM.

Final Fantasy (January 2006) - PinkPanther

Visit From God - Nissimyani

Goa Transmission - Mukunga Umbura

Strange Tale (August 2005) - DJ Monkey Do

Fullmoon Gathering, Asheville NC, USA (July 2006) - Kri

The 5th Element - Kameleon And Labyrinth

Megalomania - Space Monkey

etc.

Though honestly, I don't set a huge stock on genres and sub-genres, over-classification often gets in the way of just enjoying the music for it's own sake, imo. If it's psy, and it's good, recommend it and I'll check it out.

You should check out everything released on Suntrip Records, they have an own little goa trance renaissance going on, put on one of their records and it's like diving back into the past.

I guess my first question to you would be, "What kind of music background do you come from?" Believe it or not, this is an important question because if you're musical influences are more soulful than rock (for example) your tastes will be a bit different. What were you listening to prior to your interest in psytrance?

As of late, IM has been producing stuff that hasn't been typical of thier earlier works. But if you don't like IM then it's likely that you'll want to steer away from the "full-on" subcategory of psytrance. If you're into more "darker" sounds, then take a look at some of these:

Neuromotor
Logic Bomb
Dark Nebula
Psyside
Mubali

Used to be a pretty big metalhead, everything from heavy/black/death/symphonic/gothic/folk/industrial etc etc. Started to get bored with it for a couple reasons, namely due to a lack of good new bands out there, and simultaneously become exposed to EDM and the scene that surrounds it. EDM wise, my taste is pretty diverse, mainly trance/hard trance/hard dance, with a little house/DNB/hardcore on mixed in.

Thanks for the suggestions all, post any more if you have them, I'll check some of them out later tonight and post back.

Sounds like you're probably be more interested in the darker sounds of psy. Like you, I'm a rocker (more punk rock than metal, though). So I tend to gyrate towards guitar riffs and pummelling beats. 1200 Mics and Logic Bomb are good for this sorta sound. Juno Reactor is a must if you like these sounds. Also try Psyside, Psysex, S.U.N. Project, Goa Gil, and Ghreg on Earth.
