Out of tune
Hi All,
Just a quick question if anybody can help me please...
I am writing a tune at the moment and have couple of sounds playing from my Virus. All good. But when I try to add a sound from say V-Station or Nexus, it sounds out of tune.
Do I have to tune each instrument to fit the song?? I so then how. Help. shy
Say I play a A#3 from the Virus and a A#3 sound from the nexus, they sound terrible together.
Any help?
might be problem with the patch itself...either there are some semitones +/- set...or one of the sounds is just tooo much detuned
Or you might have set root note for one of the synths to a different note? There's something like that in FL...sorry no experience there
does it still sound out of tune if you play raw saw/ square-waves?
Detuned or "phat" instruments can be a real headache when it comes to tuning. If you're using any of those, know that they often just won't tune with other instruments in the same register (they're usually okay with a bassline, but that's about it).
Otherwise, it could be that the Virus instruments are transposed, or perhaps the patch is actually a chord or interval (like first + fifth, that one's common). In that case it's not a question of tuning at all but a harmony issue, and you just have to be aware of it and adjust your arrangement accordingly (or change the 5th to the root).
If it's really and truly out of tune (unusual, but I've seen it happen), almost every instrument has a coarse and fine tuning control, and that's where you would correct this. If it's a transposition issue, you can transpose the MIDI data without messing with the instrument at all.
