Mackie d.2 Mixer
I'm looking into getting a new mixer this summer. I'm thinking about the Mackie d.2. Anyone own one of these or have used one? It sounds great from the reviews. Seems like a mixer that could compete with a DJM 400. Although it doesn't have built in effects like the DJM 400, it does have a Firewire interface option. The only thing that I am not sure on is the EQs, they seem awfully close together. So just curious, what do people think about it?

i never tested this mixer but it look like a scratch mixer with lot of option on xfader.
we use a mackie mixer at work for video, its a really good mixer. solid and good sound. mixer we use is also use for producing.
It is a scratch mixer. however you should wait and have a look at the d.4 when it comes out. It will be a mixing mixer, and as far as I know will have an effects unit.

Then look into an Ecler Nuo2 or 3 or a Xone02 or 32.. none have effects, and they are either 2 or 3 channel. And if I remember correctly should be within your budget. Both have excellent sound and build quality.

if 2 channel is all you need, i definitely would recommend the d2's. quality mixer for sure. i've used one a few times, and i loved everything about it. the eq's, faders, sound, solid casing etc. extremely pleasing to play with. the firewire option seems to cost too much, and the mixer itself is kinda bulky.. but other than that, great mixer. the nuo's are also quality. i own a nuo4 myself, but i think d2's have a much better built quality than the nuos.
by the way, the d4's are HOT!
I would highly not reccomend a nuo because of the eqs.

If you are not use to mixing on a Nuo (much like your limited time on mine Allied) then it will take a bit to get use them. I have ZERO issues with Nuo EQ's.
i love the eq's on my nuo4. didn't like it in the beginning, but once i got used to em, i think theyre great.
