Why do you like Trance?
We are all part of tranceaddict for one reason; our love of trance. But Why? Why do we rate trance so highly amongst our musical tastes. Why is it that we love it so much, and other people hate it?
I will share my reasons, and perhaps u will all agree or disagree, but i will lay them down anyway.
Trance makes me happy. The melodies it involves move our souls from misery to happiness. Only we can answer why it happens to us, for i know that we all experience a different feeling with each happy song. Each tune tells a story, which can be emphasised with powerful vocals. We can feel the journey and the trance becomes one with us. As trance peaks, so do we, in a burst of ecstasy which we will all release in our own different way.
Trance ACTUALLY sounds nice. I cannot for the love of me see the appeal of metal with the noise and screaming. The electronic synths, the powerful strings, the heavenly female vocal? Need I say any more?
Trance, can be comoparable to classical music, where all the layers of sound merge together to produce masterpieces in music. I play the piano and violin, and maybe it is because of that, that i feel that I have something in common with the music.
Most of all, trance helps you at the worst of times. I have already said it makes you happy. Happiness always stems from somthing bad. Anything that makes you happy from when u r sad, can only be classed as one of the most powerful things in the world.
Long live Trance...

Trance is everything for me, its the best thing in life for me at the moment.
If I listen to some tunes here and pull the volume knob at his maximum I go totally insane!
Thank Go there is trance, it changed my life
That's weird coz Trance makes me melancholic. It doesn't make me happy (well it does sometimes, some hard trance makes me go insane and I'll be dancing and smiling to myself) but the best trance tracks, IMO, makes one sit up and start to feel a tinge of sadness and pessimism about life.
Why do I love Trance? Coz it's the best thing that ever happened to me this lifetime. Trance made me realise how good living and existing actually is.
I like bass and I like beats and I love synths...thats it...nice to listen to...I like the lack of vocals as well...most vocals styles of music (ie. rock, hip-hop r&b) typically sing about nonsense or shiznit that may in fact go against my beleif system. I like trance because anyone can listen to it without having to conform to a particular style or culture. Its all about the basic elements in the music (synths, drum etc.) not the words or the stance of the artist...for the most part anyways...
Classical...me too!
I also fail to feel the magic of angry music. I want to major in music theory in college, so from my experiences with that the classical musicians in my life like to call trance "minimalist music". This means that the songs are long, changes occur subtly and happen slowly, as much time passes. It's a kind of respected name they call it in the classical world. So my question is, why do professional classical musicians make fun of/disregard techno as a valid music form? Are they angry with it because it allows people to express music without having to learn the difficult 'trade' of playing a specific instrument? Or do they actually get turned off from the music by some of the people involved with it, like rowdy teenagers? What I've figured out is, some of the magic in trance is that it's such a hypnotic and ecstacy-inducing type of music. It's like in ancient, tribal traditions with people pounding on different-toned drums to a certain beat for hour after hour, with chanting perhaps in the background, and maybe a fire to dance about. It's proven to be a fact that the specific beat of both that music and likewise, trance, aligns with the human body rhythms and so dancing to it can take your mind to a different state. You only know it when you've tried it. Some people like drugs to make it better, but even if you don't take drugs it's doing the same thing to you.
So that's my long babbling answer to my obsession with trance. It's just the coolest music ever, it sounds so '3d' with the effects you can make it have. Like at a rave when there is one of those giant, loud bassey 'Boom!'s that happen right after the drums build up and then drop out to reveal just the melodic pretty tune...you imagine like a bomb being dropped right into the middle of the crowd and the energy from the bomb spreading out into every direction of space...what other music can do that so well?
Coz it is the only music that gives me that feeling, hard to describe, but you know what i am talkin about
i like trance...
it floats the boat, fills the bucket, kills the cat
i just like it cuz its uplifting and has nice riffs and some is really catchy

Let's cut the bullshit people.
I like trance because I think it sounds good.
It doesn't send shivers through my soul like the flowing of a bla bla bla. That's just bullshit. I don't gaze into the sky contemplating the beats or some other crap. It sounds good, I listen to it. Any Shakespearean quotes or sensual poetry would just be bullshit on my part.
Am I the only person on the boards who feels this way? Cos looking around at people's sigs and comments, it would seem so!

"Trance is a journey through a landscape painted by u're mind from the melodies of the music..."
Sorry mate, it was the first sig I saw.

hahahaa... i see u're point d00d

[qoute]Trance is minimalistic music[/qoute]
I dis-agree... Trance builds up in layers and layers and is constructed of many things... Drums, Basslines, Synths, Leads, Strings, Pads, painos, vocals i could go on....
Its all these parts jammed together played with an awesome uplifting melody and atmosphere that makes trance so nice...
IMO...
TRANCE = Classical Electronica

I dont like trance....it sux
First off id like to say Dj_MDMA - That was deep...
I know exactly where your coming from. Trance is perfect for any mood. Want to rest, listen to some slow melodic trance, wana get hyped up listen to a little hard trance, etc etc. It can put you in any state of mind, and thats what I love. My favorite are the songs that give me the chills and I feel my adreniline rush! Like the first time I heard Southern Sun, I dono what it was but her voice just made my blood bubble. Trance is life!!!!
What I dont get is how people can actually hate it. They say it sounds the same! No it doenst! Maybe if you listen to every song by a composer you will see similarity, cause thats their style, but any stuborn person who can say "every" trance song sounds the same, is weak in the mind. I could never picture my self liking a tyoe of music more. On occasion ill listen to some rock or something (never rap, heh now that shit is all the same...) But trance is what does it for me. Id like to thank all the trance addicts for providing a happy medium for people like my self to exchange thoughts and learn about the music. Let the trance live on... - TA 4 Life -

Techno is everything for me.
I listen to Techno-Music since 10 Years now...
I was about 17 Years old (1992) when I heard my first Tracks I felt in Love: James Brown is dead and Interactive (Who is elvis) and the Dub-Mix of Culture Beat - No deeper meaning.....!... but my ex-girlfriend heard those german dance-music tracks and I liked the Synth-Parts in it.... then I was totally drunken and saw a hardcore-video on MTV... "Rotterdam Termination Source - Poing!" and I completly changed to TECHNO (Trance&Hardcore)!
Afer one wild year of my first Thunderdome-CD's a friend gave me a Mix-Tape of DJ D-Tronic of the "Twilight" (this club was at the same location where the UNIT and the Famous "TUNNEL" in Hamburg/Germany opened....) and the first song I loved was Jens - Loops and Tings in a wonderful REMIX.
After that I listened to hardcore (especialy holland-style and happy (not stupid!) songs...) and trance parallel... but hardcore killed itself in 1998 (for me it killed ITSELF!!! BECAUSE OF THOSE BORING SLOW BEATS!!!) and I totally changed to Trance. First the german trance and in 1999 the UK Clubtrance (in Hamburg we received BFBS-Radio and they have broadcast trance/house etc the whole weekend.... PvD (the "new & trancy" - PvD), CygnusX, Ferry Corsten... I heard their tracks first on Radio. The song "Tilt - I dream (Tilt's Ressurection Mix) was the first slow one I liked... but I can't dance to such slow music...
Then I found trancEaddict (yeah, they ID'ed Tilt... I didn't know the name until I posted a sample of tilt in the unknown Track-Section) and of course some other nice Websites and even illegal MP3-Sites and since that I'm downloading every song I could get... and listen to it and sort it out....
But my love goes out to every Trance-Songs faster than 150 BPM like the awesome mixes of our DJ Dawn... I love it and I think Hard-Trance is the best music I could imagine!!!
So this is my part... sorry for mistakes... I'm too lazy to correct it.
I'm a computer specialist and I actually don't have time to spin the decks (*sniff*)... but I think I have talents to mix Vinyls... but I think I will chose Traktor or something like that...
At last I visited a Trance-Event at Amsterdam/Holland in February: I love Trance... and this was the result for my website... www.ilovetrance.de is a german trance-portal for info and news... hope that this will grow up with success....
))
Outta here...

Hey TranceRulez, the same with me. The only difference is that i started with listening to eurodance. And as you know eurodance is dead so i started to listening techno, hardcore, happyhardcore, trance! And still i think that the techno music is the best.

| Originally posted by dj_mdma hehe lol! Actually I'll beg to differ. When Its been a long day at college, I'm walking down the main road, cars passing by, people living their lives. The sunlight beams onto your face, but disappears behind a cloud for a moment but reappears a few seconds later, to hit your face just as a tune finishes a breakdown. You feel the music. You look around, at the green grass and the flowers blowing in the breeze. I think "Life is good" |
Cool...
I hear Trance in my car
http://www.audi-speed.de/images/S3_14.JPG (YEP, since my driving license I'm shaking my cars (on this photo: Audi S3) with beatzzzzz)

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY OF LIFESTYLE FOR ME!!

I've been into Dance Music for as long as I can remember, I didn't suddenly 'discover' Trance like some on here, it's always been with me in one form or another, from Age Of Love in 92 through when everyone went Goa mad in 95 (Perfecto Fluoro etc) to the big outbreak in 99.
I still listen to all sorts, but 90% of the stuff I buy now is trance, and has been for a few years.
Hard House can have the energy but not the melody.
House can have the beautiful lyrics but not the energy.
Hardcore can have energy and melody but it's rarely moving or beautiful.
Garage and Hip Hop / R&B is too basic and stripped down.
Techno has the energy but not the melody or emotion.
No other genre of dance, or even music has such a poweful combination of elements and structure that conveys such energy and emotion in one piece.
It will always exist.
It will always be with you.
absolutely agree with you, Nautica!!!
