XONE62 vs XONE92

Besides the obvious price difference, am I going to mis out on anything significant if I buy the 62's vs the 92's?

I need a box for my tracktor and 2 CDJ1000 MK3 that's why I'm looking for atleast a 4 channel mixer. I know the XONE 3D will be my best option but at this time, I can't afford to fork $2,800+. Oh btw, I will be using my old Hercules MK2 as a soundcard and controller for tracktor. I can hook it up to an external mixer like the 62 or 92.

Can I use some of the 92 midi functions for my tracktor? If not, then it's purely a question of what box sounds better. Or are other things I need to know.

Any thoughts?

TIA

xone 92 midi is nothing overly special. Get the 62, buy a midi controller and a decent soundcard with the money you save. OR xone 62 + xone2d. Xone 92 is not really designed for midi control in the sense of controlling tractor.

what about the eclers?

The Eclers much more midi functional than any Xone

Actually not Eclers, but one sigular model, the Nuo 4 has quite a bit of midi functionality.

for sure. almost contemplating picking up the nuo4 due to all the good reviews ive read about it, 4 channels, midi, etc...also its one sexy lookin mixer

Sneaker Pimp experience of my self

i've buyed a XONE92 (not for the midi control) and i think that is the best dj mixer solution actually....but for the midi control....uhmmmm the nuo4 is another choice, another "platform" for work and play music....
also the xone92 have a "limiter/compressor" in every channel and 2 AUX/return channel.
I use my mixer with a laptop and an external sound card with 8 ch out. (4 used on the mixer with the traktor)
mixing in this mode is very funny, sometimes ableton live, but for my self and my mixing style this "audio setup" is the best

this is my experience, what do u think about this?????

Re: XONE62 vs XONE92

Try the 62 before you even consider it. I don't like it. It uses studio style faders, has no rotary option... and I don't care for the cue system.

It's built very well and sounds great, but I'd save up for the 92, which fixes all the quirks in the 62.

The NUO4 works VERY well with Traktor! You can use your CDJ's (or turntables) on channels 1 and 4, and TRAKTOR on channels 2/3...mix all 4 at the same time if you want to. The audio from TRAKTOR (MIX output and CUE) goes into a 5th "channel" in the middle of the NUO4...so you dont have to waste a channel for audio.

And with the money you save, you can buy an EFX-500 or something!

Xone 92, or the new Xone S2.

I don't like the Xone 62 at all.

Of course the xone 92 is better. Here in australia it is over $1000 more expensive, and imo it is certainly not $1000 better. The cueing system on the xone62 is fine, using the aux knobs is simple. The studio fader caps come down to personal choice, and the individual channel metering may only be 4 led's, but you can just use the main meters when cueing, just like you would with a ecler nuo4.

Alot of ppl bash the xone62 and 99% of it is unjustified imo. IS the xone92 better - yes, is the xone62 by any means bad - NO!

Question

forgive my ignorance, but what would be the difference between using traktor, and say serato scratch? Is it just to save the hassle of buying serato and instead using midi functions to control traktor? If so which do people perfer more?

Serato is a piece of software that allows vinyl emulation, Traktor on it's own doesn't. Serato also doesn't support MIDI (yet). If you were to couple Traktor with Final Scratch, then vinyl emulation is possible, although Final Scratch isn't exactly known as being stable...

I really hate the xone 62 as well. bought one a while back and sold it almost straight away. I used one in a club not so long ago and had a horrific time trying to listen to the track I was q'ing, the fact that the gains cut in the headphones is a real pain, plus the fact the volume sliders are a stupid shape and when you try and bring in the bass it is too severe low down.

Now have a xone 92 and love it. I've totally overused it tho and it is showing signs of age.
