I wasn't too impressed with Sander Kleinenberg's set, he didn't play his trademark song This is not Miami!! Went to Kool Haus after, Blank & Jones ripped it! They were amazing! Rank 1 was doing nice too. Couple good songs Rank 1 played that I know were Black is the colour (coco green remix) and life less ordinary

After not being out for so long it was great to get back out there and get my dancing legs back again. It was great seeing so many TA faces that I haven't seen in a very long time...you know who you are...and good to meet some new faces too.

Started off with a little Sander K and even though I was enjowing his set....it was just so crowded that I couldn't move....but that didn't stop me from having a good time.

Went back over the the KH and got my fix of Blank and Jones....its been so long since I heard them....it was great....I guess I still have some trance in pants still I know...who knew.

Rank 1.....killer job to end the night....couldn't stay till the end because my old body just can't take what it use to.

I was glad he didn't play it....I really don't like when a DJ over does a song...and that has already been over done....the DVDJ set was kinda cool but wasn't anything special that is for sure.

My body can't handle the club stuff right now. No idea how I went from Mr. energy dancer months ago, to having to sit down after a couple hours now. It's probably safe to say I wont be out at a club event for a long time. See how it goes though I guess. All I can do is shake my head at myself. Don't understand stuff sometimes, frig.

Posted by Clublifexx on Feb-25-2007 12:47:

Wow, everyone complaining about Sander K should have set foot into the Koolhaus.
Every single DJ performed at the highest level you could have hoped for.
Last 30 min of Kenneth was really picking up. The man showed he knows how its done.
What can I say about Talla. Absoutely fantastic. Very few Dj's throw that versatility out there. He went from very hard trance, back to epic. Dropped Sophie Sugar - Fallen too far, Armin - Communication 3, and a few other new and classic epic pieces after the initial boom.
Blank and Jones, very nice as always. Missed a little of them to hear some of Sander K I believe, but got to hear my perfect silence.

And for the grand finale....rank 1. Good Lord.
We tried to leave about 8 times.
At one point, we were on our way out then in a row he played:
Intuition, Airwave, Greece 2000, Madagascar....
Pure performance by everyone. Great to see all I ran into.

Just got back in from the drive home to Buffalo.

First, the bads:
Line cutters, and spending 20mins in line at first to find out it was the Guestlist line. $20 parking. $25 entrance (didn't the fliers say $20?)

The goods:
Every thing else. Holy shit Blank & Jones. They almost looked like they were having more fun than any one. Awesome spirit. One of them pointed at me and smiled when I was smiling my balls off at a crazy peak.

Max Graham, also amazing. Didn't stay long bcs the Guv was pretty hot and packed, but the first 45mins were fantastic.

Thank you again Toronto, I swear I have to move there.
And thank you to the border agent for searching my trunk just because we're a couple of kids who think 11-6 at the Guv is worth the 4 hour drive. We weren't that sketchy.

Posted by Endlesswave on Feb-25-2007 13:32:

Max fucking Graham for the win!!! Ran into Jon w a freezie on stage haha. Talla was also very good compared to the last (and first) time I saw him @ Viva...harddddddd tunage. I dunno why but AWESOME things seem to happen to me while on stage in the Guv mainroom...Pavel was there as a witness hahah. I think when I'm at Guv I WILL make that my perma home.

<3

P.S missed Greece 2000? FUCK ME.

Posted by exstasie on Feb-25-2007 14:00:

Just got home..Max Graham played till about 8:10!! awesome shit...

The night started out bad...and it was sooo crowded that it sucked...I was @ guv for the first 20 minutes of Sander's set but it wasn't doing anything for me, so I went to KH..which took about 25 minutes as there was a jam in the "tunnel" area between Guv & Orange Room.

But once I got in the KH it was absolutely amazing! Talla, M&J and Rank 1 made the night perfect...and finishing w/ Max Graham!

Only problem was how busy the Guv main room was...oh, and having to go through the Orange Room to get to the KH...had to cover my ears if you know what I mean...

Nice to meet all the TAs that I haven't met before...there are way to many to mention...I probably met twice as many TAs yesterday as I did at the TA Anniversary Party...

Sleep time before I go to work...

EDIT: oh yeah..cover was $25?? wtf was that about? It said $20 everywhere after 11...I Missed reduced Guest list by like 15 minutes so we got stuck paying the stupid $25...

I have to say that this was an awesome night, i spent most of my time in KH, there was enough room there to dance and people werent pushy. lots of TA's were at this place and it made me feel all the more comfortable. the music was great, blank & jones and rank one were amazing, and when he dropped 'lethal industry' i was extatic.

the highlight of my night was basically the whole thing, i enjoyed the atmosphere and the people.

on the bad side, the only thing i didnt enjoy was the time i had to spend in the hip hop room when i tried getting to Guv and Gallery

lots of lightshows were given and everyone enjoyed them.

Posted by Turntabulls on Feb-25-2007 14:42:

well this was the 12th ultra spin that ive attended, and I do have to say it was one of the best. i caught a little bit from each artist tonight.. and wow. everyone was ON!

THE GUVERNMENT
Mark Oliver opened the main room with style and promise as always. He's easily hands down one of Canadas best DJs, his track selection, mixing, and versatility is soo consistent its sickening.

Sander K, wow. from the first track to the last. killed it. as the pioneer of the dvdj live set, he keeps on impressing. my only complaint was how rammed the main room was for his set. the z103 crowd was definitely out in full force.

Max Graham. its awesome seeing Canadian raised talent reach top international dj status. he did a great job closing out the main room. kept my legs moving when i thought they were completely worn.
dropped the track of the night: remy & roland klinkenberg - till ya drop!

THE GALLERY
Evan G. missed your set buddy, but again great party and bookings in the gallery. activate parties are definitely where its at.

Tim Patrick. really impressed me. i haven't seen him spin in years, and wow, 3 cdjs going at once, overlaying track. amazing skill.. he really got the gallery going.

Robb G played his first complete 4/4 set. amazing job, even though there definitely was some breaks breakdowns.. definitely kept the vibe going sweet danceable set.

Jelo. what can i say. this guy is the man. soo much energy. he destroyed the gallery.

Charles Feelgood. caught the first two tracks, and had to leave.. the gallery was becoming too hot!

Sydney Blu. I missed but im sure she killed it as always

THE DRINK
Manzone & Strong. Missed due to that stupid drink rule. All access my ass.

The Scumfrog. This guy was only supposed to play for 3 hours and he ended up closing out the drink. I caught the last hour and a bit of his set.. and FUCK ME! Amazing. He gets soo into the music.. he loves his job, and he loves to make people dance. He was the DJ that impressed me the most last night.

KOOL HAUS
Kenneth Thomas. I had the pleasure of meeting Kenneth at O Lounge the night before, and wow great guy. Really down to earth. Great opening set. Set the mood perfectly.

Tallxl2c. missed..

Blank & Jones. I used to be hardcore into trance, but my interest has faded over the years into house music.. and all I have to say is holy shit! Amazing! When they dropped communication.. no words can describe what I felt. Lol

Rank 1.. I missed.

the music was amazing.. but the party isn't a party without the people. urban_legend, mickmack, knox, samalama, cribby, sarah, owen, elyse, barb, danica, lindsay (happy bday!), courtney, karolina, andy, sandra, chris & roger, mike, michelle the list goes on and on.. THANK YOU!

Eh. Too lazy to write a proper review

The Good: Max Graham mayhem in the main room (Sander K was good for an hour or so too and KT's first hour was pure prog bliss)

The Bad: Meh on most trance acts. Admittly I gave about 20 mins for each trance act before disappearing to the main room. (That's a first, preferring main room over KH)

The Ugly: Having to walk through Orange Lounge and hearing hiphop to get between rooms. Honestly, can't they move that stuff to somewhere more secluded, like the Gallery?

Overall: 7/10
Tune of the Night: some mash up of Inner City - Good Life Max Graham played (where were you for this, jon?)

Posted by SummerCallin on Feb-25-2007 14:54:

just got home
too tired to write anything

Posted by minimax on Feb-25-2007 14:58:

apart from having to miss out on Rank 1's set cause I was falling asleep, it was a great night.

Posted by TranceGrooves on Feb-25-2007 15:01:

Big thanks to EVERYONE that made it out for the pre party shinding. I am sorry about getting there late but it was jus something out of my control . RJ & Margs you guys are awesome. thanks for coming. The folks from Michigan and NYTAs and also KT Talla and Christina, thanks for the good times and great chats.

We should do this more often thanks again everybody. hope you all had a wicked night and danced your asses off. I know i did

KT your opening set was just perfect. Couldnt have asked for anything more from your set. Well done good sir

TAlla gets the set of the night honours from me. holy crap!!! it was my first time seeing him live and watching him on stage with his energy was just spectacular.

Blank & Jones set was good. A few mixing problems here and there but other than that i enjoyed their set. It wasnt anything great tho. They have and are capable of playing alot better but still it was nicely done

Rank 1. well its Rank 1. not much to be said lolz. Piet knows exactly how to keep the crowd going and everybody dancing. Some great tunes were played. I had to leave early as i was very tired and lost my voice but from what i heard it all was jus fa kin su pah !!!!

Max Graham. w0w. he was in top form. saw him for a lil bit and he was tearing it up. Now i must relax and catch up on some much needed sleep lolz

sketching out at jays place, ill actually get ot post a comment or two before than damn review thread runs into 3 pages (40 posts per page )

had a GREAT night.

Fav set was Talla... HOLY FUCK... the man was on fire and incredible.

Blank & Jones SURPRISED THE HELL out of me!!!! Ive never been a massive fan of them live, but boy did they do a bang up job. I was highly impressed by their set -- I think a lot of us were

Though towards the end i was getting 'uninspired' while dancing (prolly bc my feet were now aching, so my mind kept going back to that), so i went and sat out for 30 mins or so to rest up for when Rank came on the decks.

AMAZING start, fucking loved rank's set.... so many ch00ns... and that goes for Talla too... though in some older 2001 type trance, wicked.

So glad I caught him again.

Man I feel so worn out right now though. SO glad Get to pass out for like 5 hours before i have to drive back home to collingwood!!

oh, and the end, SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH for me... of course i am not a house head, so obviously thats why i found it so, but i just wanted max to end so we could leave

and then were was my polar opposite, Jon JOn who I dont think ive ever seen him more energized dancing in my life... must have been a really kick ass house set! Seriously jon, lol, you were going nuts. great to see man.

thats it for now, i wanna shower and pass out

Jem

Bummer, but I kinda know how you feel Dannyboy.

You'll get it back, dont worry... time, time time. Eventually, it'll happen

omg...talla! easily my favourite part of the night. his set was PERFECT for me. really enjoyed KT's set and he's a sweetie to boot! blank and jones surprised me because i wasn't really into their set the last time they played here, but tonight was much better. rank 1...amazing. great way to close out the night.

crazy danceoffs, wikkid friends, and there was plenty of room to dance! it wasn't overcrowded or sweltering hot and that to me makes the night a winner. great seeing everyone
