Handsup, describe that style for me.

I've recently heard the style Handsup being mentioned, but what is this style, what does it sounds like and foremost how do I produce tracks in that style?

tiesto/ferry corsten - adagio for strings

Isn't hands-up stuff like Special D, Rocco, Pulsedriver and the likes?

Posted by Analog Artisan on Feb-26-2007 13:43:

I thought hands-up was more the cheesy feel good hard trance comming out of germany like Manuel Schleis does..

Posted by KilldaDJ on Feb-26-2007 13:55:

uplifting dutch breakdown trance.

Posted by TwistedDUO on Feb-26-2007 16:42:

WOW even more sub-categorizing. This is seriously getting out of hand.

Handsup Trance = Anthem Trance

Uplifting Dutch Indo-Chinese Mongolian Breakdown Sash4x Goes Bonkers Anthem Trance.

People trying to say they're different from epic trance, but are really the same.

I agree.

As if the music isn't already divided enough already. Gawd, how I wish we could go back to when it was just "techno".

Handsup = Euphoric = Anthem = Epic

It's all trance music that is fomulated around a huge buildup.
I'm certainly not calling it bad music. But the least one can do is call it was it really is and quit frontin' like they discovered something new.

Not so far. Just put it in the context of a hard trance kick and bassline. Personally, I roll my eyes when producers take the epic trance formula and style, add a hard trance bassline and kick, and say that it's somehow "better" or "far away" from epic. Seriously, you're going to have to do better than that.

I listened to them before I made my judgement. To me they sound like with a softer kick and bassline, they would favor epic trance more than anything I can think of. Some people would call the result Scouse House, but I've come to consider the two to be synonyms anyway.

Posted by flutlicht junky on Feb-27-2007 00:03:

Scouse House is the just the continuation of UK Hard house in a style similar to when it was bouncy.

Basically cos it was massive up norf!!!

I prefer nu-nrg myself.

That's different than what I've been told is Scouse House, honestly. I was thinking more along the lines of the trance where you wonder why people even call it trance because it's so sugary and corny (Ian van Dahl, Lange, etc.). I don't think there's a word for it if Scouse House isn't it. Maybe 'shit' will do. Either way, this hands up stuff reminds me of that.

You said it before I could.

Mhm, thanks for your help. A bit more informed.

Posted by Derivative on Feb-27-2007 13:41:

Eh? Scouse House is just dance music with a veangence kick and an offbeat bassline that uses a donk or a sample of a donk.

Thats because norvaners go mental for:

BOOM -DONK! BOOM -DONK! BOOM -DONK! BOOM -DONK!
