go to coronado island for a site to see. its a nice place.

as for Belo, its a fun place but the crowd can be hit or miss. get on a list if ya can. drinks are relatively cheap. $9 for premiums. there is a hip hop room so there are some different people there. also its got a sushi bar so if ya wanted to eat you could. have yet to eat there so i dont know how good it is. the rooms are kinda small but not too small. the sound can be good depending on if the eq was done right. overall its a fun place.

talk to Zombie0729 on here. he can get ya on a list.

Welcome to San Diego, you will LOVE the city. (That, is if our weather clears up) As far as Belo, it is really a nice place, I love the setup, and vibe.

Have a kick-ass weekend and welcome to SD!

Posted by Zombie0729 on Feb-27-2007 18:06:

cool welcome! another big weekend here as most of hte other guys pointed out. anyways, send me names by 2pm friday and i'll put you guys on the discount list. $10 before 10 and $15 before 11pm.

sound system is quite nice, lighting is upgraded (and still being upgraded) and the crowd is usually spot on. If the crowd sticks around we go until 4a.m. if it thins out below 50 people they usually cut it early.

as for sight seeing... coronado was a great recomendation, also Altitude is a really cool rooftop bar for some drinks during the day and go rent some bikes on saturday in Pacific Beach. That's a lot of fun too~!

be sure to say hi - Anthony

i know digweed at pacha NYC is gonna be around 40.00 advanced. So seeing him at belo would be a steal. lol

Posted by Drew1127 on Feb-27-2007 18:44:

which would be easier to get around? renting a car or taking the MTS?

Posted by serch54 on Feb-27-2007 19:05:

Renting a car is probably best depending on where you're staying. The Trolly can be convenient, but doesn't go to the beaches and stop service at 1-2am which is not convenient for clubbing.
4 Strings is at On Broadway on Saturday I believe. On B-way is around the corner from Belo on 6th and Broadway. It's a big club with a large trance/house room, a hip hop, a top 40, a 80's and a live music room. It can be fun. Dress code for Belo and OB: "Chic" -Nice shoes, no slob top for guys - girls pretty much whatever, from what I notice
I saw Deslyn had a guest list for the 3rd. I'm sure she'd be down to help out some fellow TA's from out of town.

I've gotta have a low-key weekend at some point, but Hope you have fun!

omg i didnt REALIZE how big of a weekend for parties this was!!! seems like there is a gig every NIGHT!!! and the thing is...i LOVE 4Strings too!!! hmms

so clubs are only accessible by car? no buses etc.?

oh mann a BIG club with a big room now im intrigued...

Posted by CND on Feb-27-2007 21:04:

All depends on which part of town you based. Where is your hotel located?

If you do plan on doing a bit of drinking taking a cab may be the way. Cost could be comperable to renting a car too.

You couldnt have picked a better weekend to come to SD. 3 big events in 3 days!

You dont have to worry about a car so much to get around downtown SD. This isnt like NYC you can walk to all the hot spots in downtown in about 10min. The Gaslamp Quarter where most the best bars, restaraunts and clubs (including Belo and On Broadway) is about 6x8 blocks in area. So just stay on foot if your staying downtown. If your driving in ro downtown, parking will cost around $8-12 depending on the night.

If you do rent a car be sure to take sometime to drive north on pacific coast highway and check out all the coastal cities. Its a really nice drive with great places to stop and take picture, shop and eat. It could take you most of a day if you take your time and explore.

Welcome to SD. Hope you enjoy your first visit out to SoCal.

yeah its gonna be a great trip for drew1127 and me. spend some quality time + seeing the sights with my baby...great recommendation about the coast btw, we are SO going up North, im bringing both my dSLR and my point and shoot. i LOVE taking landscape shots and SD boasts some impressive sights so im told...probably will spend HOURS there basking in the beauty of it...

its also to celebrate an early bday so its even more special right now not sure what parties we are gona hit up. but either way, im making sure this weekend goes *EXACTLY* the way I want it to go with the places i wanna go, and the ppl whom i wanna see.

my favorite thing about SD is the sunsets. pretty much every day, no matter where you are, you'll see a gorgeous sky as the sun is going down. last glimpse of light before its time to PARTY.

if you're trying to hit up a beach, my favorite is encinitas. don't know if that's too far north for you though. otherwise mission bay or coronado should do the trick.

Have fun! I might be @ belo taking some pics But I'm really waiting for next week with armin coming down!!

my all time favorite sunset was witnessing a full sunset while on Maui, when the sun set OVER Lanai and created a postcard perfect scene like NO OTHER. it was me and another artistic soul who was perched atop the beachwall with our cameras in hand, taking madd shots per second. a once in a lifetime scene to DIE FOR. but i bet SD will come pretty damn close

I don't know of any clubs these days that ban p&s cameras. Considering that 2 and 3mpixel cameraphones are common now, how could they ban cameras? I know it pisses some owners off, but oh well. Embrace the technology! :P
