My friends have ps3s and wiis and I have a 360. They still have to arrive at the store within an hour or 2 after receiving a shipment to get a controller for the wii. And there aren't a whole lot of games for the ps3 or wii yet -- there's plenty to choose from on the 360. I'd say go 360 or wait several months if you want the others

I have both... If you are looking for Home Media Integration.. The 360 is the winner right now..

If you want to have the future best formats, get the PS3. Blu-Ray on PS3 smokes XBOX and their HD-DVD. (Xbox HD-DVD has a lot of kinks to work out)

Right now, I mainly play the Xbox 360 and just use the PS3 for Blu Ray....

If you want Blu-ray, you would have to be stupid to buy anything other than a PS3, it's a cheaper than ALL the other players out there. It is the best Blu-Ray player on the market and it's a kick ass gaming system.

XBOX 360 has them on games. But this time next year, PS3 will be right up their. The games, or lack of on PS3 makes it hard to spend that much cash on it.

360 is the best deal right now. Add the HD-Dvd drive and you can watch a bunch of HD movies too. They are having some issue with the decoding of the HD sound formats, which will be worked out.. Just a matter of time..

Either way, I hope you have a 5.1 Theater system and a HD tv to hook it up to, otherwise you are missing out!

Confirmed my leanings towards the Xbox.

360 all the way. They made it upgradeable with a familiar windows user friendly interface that even my mom could negotiate.

Anyone thinking the PS3 is the better deal think about the doubtful format Sony selected (blue ray disc). Microsoft put alot of thought into their product and I respect that alot, plus it has alot of games available, and a larger online network than that of Sony. Halo 2, Gears Of War online are absolute must haves.

As far as technology is concerned the PS3 is superior, and it will be obvious in a year or 2 down the line. Right now, Microsoft has the advantage and their machine is upgradable as you will see soon.

Microsoft is thinking average human when they developed their system. Most people don't have HD tv's and the HD movie formats are still in their infancy and at this point nobody really knows which HD format will fold.

I have a pretty high end set up and the PS3 has some compatibility issues with HD tv's because it runs at a rate that is beyond the capability of most HD sets today. So when you connect to most HD sets it runs at a standard 480p instead of converting up to 1080I, if 1080p is not available. The 360 adapts to the highest available resolution automatically.

Long story short, get a 360.

Xbox 360 as a MCE extender is pretty sweet. Especially if you use MCE as a PVR. No HDMI on the 360 is a downer though. I bought a stand alone Blu-Ray player instead of a PS3 because the PS3 doesn't have an IR remote. My system is completely integrated and the PS3 would have broke that. Plus, I hate Sony.

That's one of the goals although I presently run Windows XP pro at home.

Work still in progress. Just installed the system with a Marantz SR8001 as the base.

SR8001 is tasty . I'm currently in the process of upgrading a bunch of gear. Trying to figure out what prepro to replace my Lexicon MC-1 with. MC12HD is just in$ane. Might just pickup a mid-priced Marantz or Denon receiver to use as a pre/pro for the time being. Damn HDMI is a pain when you already have a good setup

So far I am loving the SR8001. Have it paired with the Marantz ZS5300 Multi-Zone Control Amplifier.

After years of running with the same gear I made the leap to upgrade. That's what prompted the Xbox questions. The more I learn about Xbox integration possibilities the more I like.

Thanks again for all your responses.

Nice! I am not upgrading anything until the new Dolby Digital plus or dts hd decoders become available. Btw, a new upgraded Xbox 360 is coming with a 100gb harddrive and HDMI is coming.

120gb to be exact.

and HDMI probably already exists in the hardware it just has no riser. this would make it impossible without soldering your own.
