Xbox 360 vs PS3
Replacing my old PS2.
Looking to integrate into my home system. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated
For the price/performance:
360 + Windows Media Center Extender, no question.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/extender/default.mspx
i'd say 360 just for MCE
i finally found a nintendo wii! but i'm broke and couldnt buy it. zelda will have to wait
or if you're looking for a cheap blu-ray DVD player, get the PS3.

xbox 360 and the wii ftw!
definitely wii, for the entertainment/party factor.
XBOX 360
Exersize...........your thumbs.
My friends have ps3s and wiis and I have a 360. They still have to arrive at the store within an hour or 2 after receiving a shipment to get a controller for the wii. And there aren't a whole lot of games for the ps3 or wii yet -- there's plenty to choose from on the 360. I'd say go 360 or wait several months if you want the others
I have both... If you are looking for Home Media Integration.. The 360 is the winner right now..
If you want to have the future best formats, get the PS3. Blu-Ray on PS3 smokes XBOX and their HD-DVD. (Xbox HD-DVD has a lot of kinks to work out)
Right now, I mainly play the Xbox 360 and just use the PS3 for Blu Ray....
If you want Blu-ray, you would have to be stupid to buy anything other than a PS3, it's a cheaper than ALL the other players out there. It is the best Blu-Ray player on the market and it's a kick ass gaming system.
XBOX 360 has them on games. But this time next year, PS3 will be right up their. The games, or lack of on PS3 makes it hard to spend that much cash on it.
360 is the best deal right now. Add the HD-Dvd drive and you can watch a bunch of HD movies too. They are having some issue with the decoding of the HD sound formats, which will be worked out.. Just a matter of time..
Either way, I hope you have a 5.1 Theater system and a HD tv to hook it up to, otherwise you are missing out!
Thanks for the input all.
Confirmed my leanings towards the Xbox.

Xbox 360 as a MCE extender is pretty sweet. Especially if you use MCE as a PVR. No HDMI on the 360 is a downer though. I bought a stand alone Blu-Ray player instead of a PS3 because the PS3 doesn't have an IR remote. My system is completely integrated and the PS3 would have broke that. Plus, I hate Sony.

. I'm currently in the process of upgrading a bunch of gear. Trying to figure out what prepro to replace my Lexicon MC-1 with. MC12HD is just in$ane. Might just pickup a mid-priced Marantz or Denon receiver to use as a pre/pro for the time being. Damn HDMI is a pain when you already have a good setup
So far I am loving the SR8001. Have it paired with the Marantz ZS5300 Multi-Zone Control Amplifier.
After years of running with the same gear I made the leap to upgrade. That's what prompted the Xbox questions. The more I learn about Xbox integration possibilities the more I like.
Thanks again for all your responses.
