Angry BT's Studio Robbed - "This Binary Universe" Gear Stolen

Posted by DigDeep on Feb-28-2007 17:08:

Wow. You would think he'd have some serious security to prevent this type of thing from happening?! $150,000 worth of equipment.... yowza.

Posted by jon jon on Feb-28-2007 17:13:

lol wtf? again!?

Posted by DigDeep on Feb-28-2007 17:20:

Something smells sketchy......

I bet BT was sketchy and let his guard down.

I guess sketchy IS bad.

Posted by jon jon on Feb-28-2007 17:24:

I fucking swear this is the second time he's had his shit stolen.

Yeah dude, it is. That's the weirdest part of this.

EDIT - reminds me of the Trance|Control days

Insurance?

Is this equipment the only one in the fucking world, or something?

Yeah, didn't he lose a lot of the work he had done on an album as a result of it as well? You'd think he'd learn by the second time around.

No kidding. WTF is with BT getting robbed. Poor guy.

The first time he had a whole album stolen (it was saved on the computers, etc) and he had to re-write it from scratch.

Both are exactly my thoughts...

But I guess like a lot of home burglaries, they know that a few months later insurance kicks in and the victims replace all their stuff. Which guarantees another successful hit on the house/studio

Feel bad for him - losing all that production work...I can relate - my main HD and backups got fried the other week...lost everything.

Can someone explain what he is suggesting with the tagging and thumbprinting of gear. Is it going towards the creation of an owner database? So what there is a list of stuff people own, it doesn't mean anything if noone is going to check every sale against it.
(Or am I missing it entirely?)

Posted by Arsalan on Feb-28-2007 18:02:

its an inside job man, this is the second fucking time, he kinda gave up after the first one...

Posted by mute79 on Feb-28-2007 18:15:

poor guy... feel so sorry for him... not so much the gear, that can be replaced, but the computer with all his work

Posted by darouge11 on Feb-28-2007 19:38:

i guess some torontonian was pissed he diddnt show lol

What happened was he was out of the state/country and he left his assistants at his place. They left one night and forgot to activate his alarm. Probably wouldn't happen so much if he just cut his hair.

BT

Burgle & Thieve?

/got nothing

Posted by 8Wonders on Feb-28-2007 20:01:

You'd figure the man would learn to secure his shit better after the first time... for all that don't know, this is the 2nd time his studio got jacked.

well there's only one thing left for BT: Kill his assistants.

Posted by Tordan on Feb-28-2007 22:48:

doesn't he have backups of his productions etc.? equipment can be easily replaced but that stuff is hard to recreate.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Feb-28-2007 22:51:

Waaait a second, the one night he's out of the state, and the one night they leave the alarm off is the night the place gets broken into?

A bit too much to be a coincidence...

Hahaha.

This is so shitty, he should take better care of his stuff, make sure it's in the proper hands.

i was thinking the same...insurance fraud comes to mind

Posted by monishb on Feb-28-2007 23:51:

he didnt insure the equipment with all his millions? and his home/studio?

Posted by djbruuen on Feb-28-2007 23:57:

i must say i'm seriously surprised he would not create backups of his masterpieces to hold in alternative locations for safekeeping. Especially this being the second time.

that being said, as a producer, i worked hard gaining every piece of gear i own, and to lose the perfect setup that has been created over years is heartbreaking. I hope he finds the SOB.

Posted by Jem_hadar on Mar-01-2007 02:07:

thats seriously balls.

sucks HARDCORE. sorry to hear. id have a shitfit, even IF i could get it back (via insurance payout) or had it backed up. Itd be irate and upset all the same.

what if u have attachment to your equipment. you dont want a fucking new mixer. you want YOUR mixer.

you cant replace sentimental value. equipment can have other value to a person than just the function is serves.

memories or benchmarks could be associated to that equipment in his mind.

sucks.
