Birds as pets

So, my sister has birds. And she's getting her room redone so the birds are downstairs. They keep chirping and doing stupid shit. Then I put on some tunes, and they are literally dancing. Now they are chirping even more...

I hate birds.

Put a blanket over them and they'll fall asleep. Problem solved.

Yup. A light blanket over the cage does the trick!

A blanket? Simple things! That's why they are in a cage! Almost as much of a loser as Nikola Tesla!

I should send them to a coal mine.

Make sure it's a light sheet, or a specially made bird cage cover.

My mother has a bird and since I have been home for a visit the stupid bird has been in my room where I am sleeping. They cant put the bird anywhere else b/c the house is being completely redone.

I dislike the stupid thing. I wish I would have brought my cats with me for the visit, but getting them thru quarantine on the way back isnt fair to them. The bird is a stupid parrot, that will probably outlive my mother and the parrot is NASTY. The thing has bit me and drew blood a few times. It lunges at me when I pass the cage or when she has it out on its "playground". It chirps when it hears any kind of water. And it can talk and say stuid things like 'pretty bird' and 'step up'. When they take the sheet off its cage in the morning it says over and over again 'step up'. Be thankful your bird doesnt talk.

Watch out with birds and stuff you have in the room with it, as its respiratory systems are very sensitive. And dont feed them avocados.

Birds are cool, I used to have a budgie when i was a kid it used to fly around and land on my shoulder pirate styles. and it used to attack anyone that came near me. It was awesome, like having my own personal guard dog, but in budgie form.

Someone ressurect that pigeon thread.

When I had my budgie it actually learned quite quickly how to open its cage. But after it got used to the place it grew to like the cage. I still had to take him out to exercise but sometimes he'd actually go back to the cage himself, it was like his private area.

Most important thing is that it's sufficiently large, clean and has enough toys to keep the bird from getting bored. Also natural branches are better than the standard dowel used for perches. The varied diameter of the branches exercises their feet as they walk along it and prevents arthritis.

You're basically trying to justify keeping an animal that would normally have the entire sky at it's feet, enclosed within a cage that is no larger than a couple of feet in diameter. Oh at least it has it's toys though.

Jog on.
