Montreal TA's > Toronto TA's

Bold statement huh?

I guess this thread might be seen as controversial or upsetting, but it's one man's opinion and before anyone goes off into defense mode, try to "listen" to what I'm saying here.

I had, the utmost pleasure of hanging out with some of the most wickedest, unique, caring and fun loving people I have ever come across.

Decided to hit up Christopher Lawrence at Stereo with a buddy of mine and happened to recognize one of Montreal's TA at the "stereobar replace" beside the club. She greeted me with the wickedest hug and then introduced me as "a toronto TA" to other TA's (MTL).

we had some shots and drinks, i bought them some, they bought me some (which for some reason..in toronto, never works out the same way... WEIRD)

we head over to stereo and just absolutely ROCKED THE FLOOR... wicked music, wicked times and i was basically tied to the hip to the MTL TA's.... when there was someone who wanted a smoke, we all went... talked, laughed, chilled, fun fun fun!

There was a connection there, a love for the music, a scene that was more then "the people who go to the clubs" No drama, no issues, respect, love, kindness, happiness and a bunch of fuckin' givin' ers.

Now... this is more of a "HYPING" Montreal TA threads as opposed to "RIPPING" Toronto TA's.

There are a BUNCH of TO TA's I absolutely adore... I call some of them my closest friends... I appreciate, I respect, I love...

and then.

"the others"

I won't name names, it's not me...

but there are some of you that really make it a "disgusting" label. I mean, these days if people ask if I'm a TA... I tell them I hate the site (however, I've been mistaken.)

It's not the site, it's not the music (I still have the love of trance as well as other types of EDM)

it's... the others.

the shit talkers, the gossip writers, the people who turn a passion into a joke.

(Which, when i read the replies to this will probably show who some of the "OTHERS" are)

We are connected by being able to connect to music, not many people have this ability, we all do... we share a deep desire to listen, to understand, to feel it...

and for some reason, for some reason....

we turn that....

into total bs.

Last night in MTL I realized that I really do like TA (Tranceaddict.com), I just dislike a lot of TA's.. the childishness, the bullshit, the drama.

Montreal,

thank you. Last night was appreciated and will never be forgotten... I'll see you in two weeks for DJ VIBE.

MUCH LOVE

David A (YouReadyB)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I live and breathe Toronto. However, I really miss my school days in good Montreal. Hence, that's why I frequent this board too.

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any MLTTAs but I wouldn't be surprised as to what you're saying..

I'm really curious as to who these "others" are though...I most definately agree with most of your statements. Unlike most of you though, I overlook it all. It's really not THAT bad...just ignore it and have fun on the dancefloor.

I find in general that Torontonians are very self-important.

That's the problem dude, why overlook it? It's there, it shouldn't BE there... so why do we allow it to be THERE?

Why keep an ingredient in there that makes it taste like absolute shit?

You're OBVIOUSLY someone i mentioned as one of my close buddies cribby, you my friend are a genuine, good person... you give and not take, it's why i dig u, you're my homeboy....

and although, I would love to see you on the dance floor, rock it out like f'n dirty clowns like we are, if we could make a situation better? If your lawn has weeds, pull out the weeds... make it better, if you can, then do it.

Agreed. I've recently realized this, don't know where I've been looking or watching for the 24 years of my life i've lived in this city but partying in detroit, chicago and montreal the last few months really opened my eyes to the selfish atmosphere (at least in general) toronto can totally be.

Posted by PressPLay on Mar-03-2007 20:58:

WOW...thread's too EMO for me. Going back to TOTA!

It is pretty bad. Some things cannot be ignored. I personally find it difficult to go to an event and be all "OMG HI HOW ARE YOU, HUN?!" after just getting attacked by them on the boards.

I know that it's the intarweb, and we shouldn't take anything personally, but it gets annoying and unbearable after a while.

I haven't had any problems with MTLTAs. In fact, when I spent a summer there, they were really nice to me (even though I don't think I met any of them when I was there). I posted n00b threads, and everyone offered their opinions on what I should see and do while living there. I also got private messages from them, offering guestlist whenever there was a good event going on.

Also, if you take a look at MTLTA and TOTA, you will see a huge difference. Not only does MTL have some respect for others, but they also discuss *gasp* MUSIC!

Well I'm from a small town, so it's something I noticed pretty much immediately about Toronto. I'm an idealist, so it's in my nature to hope for the best, see only the good...yaddayadda.

I did that for years - turned a blind eye to all the crap that brings most people down. But there comes a time when you have to acknowledge reality, and the reality is that Toronto has an ego problem...and it taints every aspect of our scene.

Ah, I love this guy Greg. Truly one of the good guys from COR also a MTLTA. Still envy this dude's worldly travel experiences all over the globe. Even though he once mentioned on COR it wasn't because he was a rich kid.

I'm still doing that now...perhaps age is a factor as well, and I'll come back to reality in a few years..
