Why do people hate Judge Jules???

I look at all these threads about top Dj's and whenever anyone or anything mentions Judge Jules as one of the leading Dj's on the scene today, people always scream and yell and say how horrible he is. Why is this?? Not only does he produce HIGH QUALITY trance under Hi Gate and Angelic, (yes i know those are joint projects, but still) but take a listen to Quontact 2001 or Trance Energy Heerenveen 2001. What is so wrong with these? His technique might not be flawless, but his trackselection is superb IMO. Fact is, he works hard to be where he is and you've gotta give him credit. Living where i do, i'd give an arm and a leg just to see him live once.

I think Jules is one of the few DJs that still dare to act a bit childish when it comes to DJing.It shows that he's still a bit down to earth,contrary to virtually every other DJ that is as popular as him.Most of the Big DJs are too concerned about their image nowadays,and that is not a good thing.Saying this,I've never seen or heard the Judge outside of Radio 1 broadcasts,so I can't be sure.Maybe he's an arrogant bastard out in clubs?

some people were angry because there was a tite track that needed identifiying and some people sent an e-mail asking what the track was, and the judge didn't give a reply. This kinda p-o'd some people, and they started bashing him after. It's in the unknown track forum...somewhere

I think people don't like him because he kinda represents all things dance music isn't supposed to be about. He is the popular guy who grew up in a rich family, got big because his folks gave him money to promote parties, has a beautiful wife, a son, and lots of fame and fortune. and is essentially living the well..British dream. And Wether or not they admit it, I think thats a part of the reason why people don't like him.

As for the other, its because he oftentimes doesn't put all of his energy into all his sets. This is paritally because he plays so many but also because I have a feeling he just doesn't want to for whatever reason despite being able to. And people think that he's holding out on them.

Judge Jules is not a DJ ! He is a business man who makes money with trance music !! He cant mix for shit and plays cheezy crap. He only plays popular tunes( Prolly thats why so many people like him) rather than playing tunes he likes or something unknown. I admit that his Quontact 2001 set is pretty good but generally his sets are crap !! He is way too over-rated !!

I like about 50% of the sets I've heard from off BBC or big festivals. When he came to toronto in the late fall, I thought "what the hell, my freinds like the cheese, so we'll go check him out". It was the most painful 4hrs of my fucking life. Judge was all fucked up on e? He kept knawing his jaws back and forth, and played absolute shite. Not even the normal cheese though, just stupid boring shit. I can't even begin to define it. At one quiet part in his set, I finally had just about enough of the shit and I yelled at the top of my lungs "PLAY SOMETHING GOOD FOR FUCKS SAKE". Then gave him the finger. He proceed to play shit for the rest of the night. The high point of his set was him walking off the stage. I can't stand him ever since.

Jules is a GOOD DJ, he ain't the best and he aint the worst.

People always knock DJ's they aint seen live, I used to think Jules was just an average DJ but then I seen him at Gatecrasher and lets just say when he was on the most people were on the dance floor for any DJ that night.

And they were a lot of other good Dj's playing that night too, Scot Bond and Timo Mass to name just a couple!

Jules exposes alot of those tunes before they're popular though...Close Cover for example, he spun that WAY before anybody else did and now look at all the remixes of that song. I don't have any problem with Jules, I'm not saying he's the best DJ but he does try out alot of songs before anyone else. As for his personality, that's seperate from his music career...

The Qontact set is okay, granted Jules is a bit overrated but he doesnt SUCK.

If anyone wants to hear what the Judge is really capable then look for his set from Lush in Northern Ireland (Jules is Irish) and thats probably the best set Jules wil ever do, nice and full of energy, the crowd in the background sound totally loopy !!

Most of these opinions come from people who have never been to see jj live.

I saw him a few weeks back at gatecrasher. I think most people were tired, he got the graveyard slot 3-6am me thinks. Anyway he played a lot of tunes i liked, and his mixing was spot on. The only thing was that his track selection was not great. And the atmosphere droped from armins 4 hour set. A tough act to follow.

Anyway after he was dropped from gatecrasher IMO this has given him a kick up the arse, he had got complacent. But now his track selection is good and his mixing is superb. He will admit he aint very good at scratchin and other stuff. But he really enjoys his job.

Please pass judgment after you have seen him a few times. He like any other dj has his good and bad days. But it seems like people r sheep. A few people have valid judgements. And your opinion is your opinion. Fair enough.

But dont judge on mp3 livesets, etc.

And dont believe everything you read. I know if someone was saying i was crap, and annoying me all night, and saying some of the stuff that bloke was saying i would had thumped him.

But i like judge jules coz he plays tracks that i love, and he got me into the whole seen. I like him, and i dont care what yr opinion is, coz i like mine.

We all have our favourites, and i will admit jj was bad in general last year, but watch him this year. When he is good he can take on any dj, and that is why he is there.

So if you have a point to make back it up
