Digweed and MSTRKRFT L.A. Review

omg i die.

MSTRKRFT brought hard electro punk tracks over and over, I loved em!

Diggers owned everybody until the lights went on.. it was packed up until the end.
He started out similar to what dave is describing in the SF thread, really wobbly weird stuff, and then he played a million tracks nobody knew.. Harder, deeper progressive and tech house.. i did recognize some stuff from Transitions 2, that was pretty sweet.

He closed with a classic from Northern Exposure..

I left %110 satisfied and %100 of my feet are killing me..

A+++ would do business agian..

Track of the night...Digweed dropped G-Stylz - Can't Get Enough. I lost it. Great night all around, I'll just assume that MSTRKRFT was off last night because of the extensive touring

ps
Architects of Sound should open every night, they KILLED it last night!

Loved the set and although us Giantologists have to be on the job, I caught most of his set. I was really exhausted so dancing was not an option. I drank 3 redbulls to stay energized (long day and night), man was I strung the hell out till 5am.

I particularly loved these kids that flew in from Illinois (up in the front jumping like lunatics). I wish I had their energy (or what they were on).

Good seeing/Meeting alot of you TA's. Greg, I thought you'd be taller.

i liked the dark, nasty build-ups of the first half, but I felt the second half of diggers' set plateau'd, and by 3:00 or 3:30 I was expecting him to bring everybody up for one more climax, but it seemed pretty much 'stay the course,' then it was over. i noticed people weren't dancing so much as standing around and head-bobbing from 3-4...

still amazing how the man can remain completely detached, how he can look as passive as a nuclear power plant technician. "but first up, working like a wizard," says pete tong, "he doesn't jump around much or react to what he's playing, but the place is going nuts. this is john digweed."

first time @ vanguard, sweet spot... love the soundsystem and vibe. but damn, i've never been to any event where they search you so thoroughly. anyway, i thought digweed rocked! i mentioned earlier that although he's my favorite, he tends to start off slow. but that wasn't the case last night. out of all the times i've seen him, this was hands down the best set.

cool meeting TA's mando & svcmethod @ vanguard and sweetcandy girl @ avalon..

What a phenomenal night, Digweed rocked it! I was a little concerned that MSTRKRFT was playing too hard for him to follow with the type of set I'd like to hear, but he really pulled it off with ease. Digweed has this amazing ability to get inside your head with the music, and the complexity and intricacy of the tracks just completely overpower anything that comes before it!

The energy was so high, I know that John was very appreciative of the crowd and that really fed his mixing, which again powered the crowd's reaction. It was kind of like this massive feedback loop, without all that screeching that usually comes at the end!

The floor was dark, it needed to be, but these pics came out the best.
