Saltwater - The Legacy (AniG's Psyworks Remix) [Hard Psy] [128k FULL]

hi there everyone, i seem to be producing a fair bit as of recent and just had to put this one out there for people to listen.

spent about 6hrs on this last night working into the morning even tho i was extremely sleep deprived and still am.

i just want to know what u think, some c&c would be great.

Saltwater - The Legacy (AniG's Psyworks Remix)

Track info:
Tempo: 147bpm
Size: 7231488 bytes
Length: 7mins 31 secs

Author's Comments: A remix for the Nonstop2k.com March Competition. As I am a judge this month this isn't an entry, it was just something to have a play around with and have some fun.

Mix Notes:
Some psyworks and tech trance inspired structure, simplistic beats and hardcore winding melodies.

Made using:
This mix was made in FL Studio 6 XXL Edition.
Fueled by complete insanity and utter sleep deprivation.

Enjoy listening.

Hey mate,
pretty interesting track you got here. I really dig it.
kick and bass kind of work. The beginning with the acidline is awesome.
hard percussions.. you did not promise too much when saying this is hard stuff.
Picks up more drive until the first breakdown. It's the classic kind of buildup, and it works very well.
Good hardstyle melody then. I like the main part. Pumping and massive.

The next break is totally nuts. I think this justifies the track being labeled Psy. Now back to the catchy main theme, great.
6:38 is a great part again.

Overall, a really good track. It has a lot of energy. However I somehow think it needs a little more clarity in the overall mix. Things get a little chaotic in the midrange. This might be because of the rather low bitrate, but I also suggest you also have a look at the EQs again to get rid of some unwanted clipping.

Anyway, me likes.

sounds ok, more like hardtrance/house than psy tho

Listening..

Great claps.. very heavy.. but sounds good.

Lead is very phat, i know recognise the original, which i personally dont fancy much.

I think the lead is taking very much space, and that the percussions are loosing its drive a little bit.

Second build up is more crunchier, the track sounds well put together, but i dont think the kick and bass combo sounds that good.

But overall, well made track.. sounds more like hard trance than psy though, in my opinion.

thanx for the reply subtle.

ive updated the mix and fixed some mastering issues.
i was rendering using the wrong sound driver (primary instead of creative asio) so now it sounds way better lol.

take a listen if you'd like.
its probably more hardtrance than anything else, i named the genre hard psy because of my uncertainty to the genre of which it pertains.

Best new song I've heard in a while. It makes my top 50
Any chance for a higher bitrate version?

I already wanted to leave here my opinion....
First I wanted to write: this tune is bad, but as I guessed few seconds are quite few to rate a 8 min. tune.
So I listened it from the first beat till the last drum,
and all I can say, it's not bad.
I really LOVED the original mix and your remix cannot even reach it, sorry to say that. Your remix for Oceanlab' "Sky Falls down" was much much better in my opinion (I downloaded that pretty accidentally from DC++ few weeks before my last comment in this forum).

Gilbert, it's a damn shame!! I'll upload for you the radio edit, it's f**king beautiful!

here it is:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/21pqy2

anyway I have the club mix, Samuelzone and Alphazone remixes as well
my rank would be 1. radio edit, 2. Alphazone remix, 3. Samuelzone remix, 4. club mix

the original's pretty sick, thanx for uploading it for me

Posted by Nemesis44 on Mar-12-2007 13:43:

The original is actually one of my all time faves so I decided that I'm not even going to compare them other than to say that doing the original justice is a very tough task.

The poster that said your midrange gets a little messy is correct, it does, I think because your bassline starts eating into your midrange during the main part of the track.

This is definately not Psy trance (Not sure if you said it ever was) but hard trance no doubt.

It's not a bad track but could definately do with a few more elements. At least in my opinion.

Keep 'em coming though.

Cheers

Hey mate!
Have to agree with systemF regarding Alphazone and Samuelzone remixes.. they are top quality.. But I DO love this one also!
Only thing sort of bugged me was around 2:01 - 2:05...There is some static/white noise kind of thing right before the build up and then it suddenly drops off to nothing. Any chance of fixing that?
Sorry.. I sound picky I'm sure haha
But yeah, it was the only thing that I noticed that didn't seem quite right.
Other than that - top notch mix!
Good stuff.

4 Minutes in here and still not that much psy element to it. I still like this though, for sure. I'm still a noob in production, but I notice the little things you do in this song. I love your buildups. Intense for sure, great work AniG!

thanx for the comments guyz
i was pretty sure myself that this was hardtrance when i made it, but im crap when it comes to genres lol
might change the topic to hardtrance which is a dying bread of music these days, still love it to pieces though.

once again thank you all for your comments
