Post Remixes of Movie Soundtracks

Ok, so there is a thread about your favorite movie songs, so I was thinking It would be cool if ppl can post that remixes of movie songs that they know of. That way, we can all listen to songs we havent before. If it wasnt for that thread I would have never found Nickelson - Yin (Solid Globe Mix) which I fell in love with. C'mon ppl, get posting.

Wendy/Walter Carlos - Title Music (bases on Henry Purcell's Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary) -> Cygnus X - The Orange Theme
Braveheart
James Horner - Main Title -> DJ Sakin & Friends - Protect Your Mind (Ayla/Lange/Van Bellen Remixes, tho Van Bellen's mix has very little to nothing in common with the theme... )
Blade Runner
Vangelis - Main Titles -> Andora - Blade Runner (Mixes) / Cosmic Baby - A Tribute To Blade Runner
1492: Conquest Of Paradise
Vangelis - Conquest Of Paradise -> Marc N Ace - Conquest Paradise

Nightmare On Elm Street
Charles Bernstein - Main Titles -> A.S.Y.S. - Acid Nightmare
War Of The Worlds
Jeff Wayne - The Eve Of The War -> Jeff Wayne - The Eve Of The War (Hybrid & Tilt Mixes)
Once Upon A Time In The West
The Ennio Morricone Orchestra - The Man With The Harmonica -> E.S.P. - Once Upon A Time In The West (Spiel Mir Das Lied Vom Tod)
The Ennio Morricone Orchestra - Once Upon A Time In The West -> DJ Gert vs. Marcel Woods - Once Upon A Time In The West
Once Upon A Time In America
Ennio Morricone - Cockeye's Song -> Disco Evangelists - De Niro
Twin Peaks (not a movie tho but a series)
Angelo Badalamenti - Laura Palmer's Theme -> Moby - Go (Mixes, original doesn't feature Moby's totally reconstructed version of the theme yet)
James Bond 007 movies
Monty Norman - James Bond Theme -> Moby - James Bond Theme (Moby's Re-Version) (L.S.G. Remix)

There's many more but i can't come up with anything and this took long enough already..

Funnily the Beach soundtrack CD itself lacks the original theme by Angelo Badalamenti and there's only this collaboration remake of Orbital and Badalamenti.

Yup... I was sad about that. I love that theme. And the movie itself is one of my favorites.

the melody itself samples something, i don't remember what, but it's a film sample if i'm not mistaken

edit: after some googling, it's from the melody is from the theme of "Withnail and I" from 1987

Yep, to be exact, it features the melody from a score piece called David Dundas & Rick Wentworth - Marwood Walks" from the movie.

Actually Ennio Morricone's Chi Mai was first used in the movie Maddalena (1971) and 10 years later again in Le Professionel which is much better known of the two tho.

Watergate (= DJ Quicksilver & David Haid) have also remade Chi Mai but only worthy mix of that is Ayla Remix.

Solar Stone sped up the melody quite a bit.. the original piece is veeerryy slow. But it sure is the same melody. So basically they did what PPK did in ResuRection with the main theme from the movie Siberiada.

Eta Beta J. - On The Road (From "Rain Man"), The Last Of The Mohicans & Terminator 2 Theme <- which is really good!

Then there's Angel Dust - Sjinera which is Adam White's remix of Injection;Jump from the MI2 OST by Hans Zimmer.

This isn't taken from any film version of TWOTW. It's from Jeff Wayne's concept album of the book from 1976.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Watergate - Heart of Asia, which uses music from Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. A good rule of thumb seems to be that if Oakey used film music in a set (as he was wont to do) it'll get a remix.

Posted by montana on Mar-08-2007 16:53:

speaking of oakey

Oakenfold - Zoo York / Aeternal
GMS - Juice
Lil Jon - Throw It Up

all of them sample the main theme from requiem from a dream

Yes the actual original version is not directly from any movie, but from a '76 musical he originally composed it for. There WAS an actual musical. The '78 concept album was made from the soundtrack of the musical, just slightly rearranging bits and pieces. Richard Burton was the narrator in that actual musical play and his opening speech has been sampled in numerous tracks ever since.

The remixes are made from that '78 concept album version of The Eve Of The War. The theme has been used in many forms in various movie and stage play adaptations so i chose it to be there. Sorry to spoil your nitpicking world.

Er... the album was an entirely self-contained album. There was never any stage musical that accompanied it, the closest to that being the live performance tour of the album that occured very recently. I've also never heard of the music from the record being used in a film adaptation.
