email: yahoo, hotmail, gmail, or others?

after reading Jake's Myspace thread [OMGMYSPACE], i didn't really realize that hotmail seemed to suck so much [especially for security reasons]. do other emails out there have such problems? which ones do people prefer to use? i've got a yahoo one, and i've never had any problems with it. in fact, the spam filter is pretty accurate...i'd say about 98% of spam makes it into the spam folder.

thoughts/preferences?

I have a few for different purposes.

My main one is my msn.com address. I've never had problems with it, I change the passwords every few months or so to prevent anything happening to it so maybe that is why. It has a strong personalized filter( that I can pick and choose what goes to what folder) on it that catches pretty much all spam, I think I have had 1 0r 2 slip here and there.

My gmail account I use for when people want to send me huge files ( usually with pics ). I've never had problems with it.

I use Hotmail, Gmail, and Rogers (my ISP address). Hotmail is the one I use for pretty much everything...the one I use for signing up for shit, etc. Gmail is for pics and large files, and my Rogers is my personal, which not many people have.

I hate my yahoo account. My sister subscribed me to so much spam that it is out of hand now.

She thought she was going to get some free goodies by giving e-mails away to some crappy magazine publisher :/

Yeah it's surprising this kind of ignorance is still around, I had one of the staff at work all excited because there was a pop-up that a flashing gif in it telling her that she'd won a grand or something and all she had to do was enter the details...

Literally had to tell her that it was against company policy to use her work email for that kind of thing, told her a hundred times it's just a scam but the silly bint was convinced it was real.

I wish I could, but every time I unsubscribe, it seems to warn them I'm still active and send me even more stuff

I'm going to call them someday. If the e-mails don't stop, lawsuit

the real annoying spam can't be unsubscribed to because it's sent illegally, by unscrupulous people with automated software that sends thousands of these emails to lists that they've acquired or have been given. You could use spambob.net but you need to get a new email address and use aliases, never divulging your true address even to your sister. I mean especially your sister or any noob who sends you free email birthday cards.

GMail: Mostly everything
Webmail on my site: Various web site stuff and other things
Spam.la: If I need to do a quick registration for some bullshit thing. It's win.
