In SouthBeach/Miami - got 5-6hrs what to do?

I'm coming down to Miami for the first time for WMC. I'll be there for a week w/ friends but on the last day (Mar 27th) of my trip I have a late flight vs my friends who leave earlier... so I've got probably 6hrs from noon on on the 27th to do something on my own. I will probably have done the shopping thing/beach/South Beach tourist thing etc so was wondering what anyone could recommend to spend this time during the day.

I may have a car rental so could drive somewhere but don't want to go too far as I've got to get to the MIA airport to catch an 8pm flight. I've looked online at things to do in / near Miami and things like the zoo seem interesting. Maybe between the zoo and going somewhere interesting and taking pix I can spend the time. Any suggestions?

You can always head towards downtown Miami and the Coconut Grove area. Talk about a huge ongoing building boom downtown. Brickell and Flagler look different from even just a few years ago. You can wander around the main street of Flagler Avenue. It's totally different from SoBe, a bit more of a dirty/big city feel, though that's quickly changing. Then head back in your car and take US 1 down towards Coconut Grove, which is a nice/classy neighborhood with some nice restaurants and shops. On your way thre you can stop at the Miami Seaquarium, and the museum of science. Oh, and Coral Gables is nearby as well - a town with a good amount of history, and the street signs are on the bottom written on brick stones, which makes it unique.
Hell, just driving around Dade County is fun. It doesnt look like your typical cookie-cutter county - it's very colorful and diverse. Little Havana on the one hand, and Coral Gables and Kendall on the other hand. You get a better understand of Miami and its people that way. Just remember to stay away from Liberty City
This is also the best time of the year to be in Miami - the weather is perfect, no hurricanes to worry about, and not a lot of humidity like you see in the summer time.

Hope this helps.

Got a laugh outta some responses lol

ambs - yea I was thinking of something along the lines of wildlife or gardens / tropical scenes to photograph... but gotta say I'd probably enjoy the wildlife more. I was looking at a short everglades tour but that's pricey and may be far.

nchs09 - I'll probably have done that to death since I'm staying in South Beach for 7days. As for the white pointed hat... that may be a lil odd seeing how I'm lets say a "darkly skinned" person

CHRles - I'm gonna plot those places / route on a map and see what i can come up with... I'm sure that'll easily kill 6hrs. Thnx.
