Where to Host Mixes

I'm sure most of you guys pay some service to host your mixes and give you good bandwith. Got any recommendations? I just want to have reliable, no-limit links for people to download mixes...

Re: Where to Host Mixes

I use dreamhost.com. It's a regular webhosting service company. It's normally $9.95/year, but if you google for "dreamhost coupon" you can find some promo codes that will bring your 1st year down to some really cheap level (a friend of mine found a coupon for $9.95 for an entire YEAR of hosting).

Why do I like them?
- Over 1.7 terabyte/month of bandwidth (which is more than you'll use,
unless you are Tiesto)
- 170 GB of disk space
- Includes one domain registration

Even if you don't want to setup a website and e-mail and all that, it still gives you a dumping ground for your mixsets with your own URL and such.

And every month you are with them, they incrementally increase your bandwidth and disk space (though I can't even hit the starting limits myself).

mixdepot.net is pretty good as its get a good amount of traffic so you're likely to get more downloads.

Low monthly cost (about 6 or 7 dollars) which increases the more mixsets you host (you can get about 3 or so 80 min sets for the base price). You can add your own external links, some pics, set up torrents etc, option for ratings for your mix sets & a nice feature is the ability for people to email you direct from the site (your email address is hidden). People can also subscribe to be notified of any updates you make, new sets uploaded etc. Good stats behind the scenes as well, number of downloads, number of hits, number of unique hits, referrals so you can see where the traffic is coming from, who is linking to your profile etc.

So for a few dollars more you can host:

- practically unlimited mixes
- your own website with whatever you want on it
- your own e-mail domain
- anything else you want online

Granted it takes a bit more technical work to setup, and you won't get random people coming across your mixes like on mixdepot.

Another option is musicv2.

I know exactly where you're comin from, but it's a nice alternative with plenty of whistles & bells if you have absolutely no knowledge of how you go about setting up a website

dreamhost has been amazing for me. I have been hosting 2 hour sets every week and I have not come close to exceeding any space limits or bandwidth limits (also host for 4 or 5 other djs).

the thing about it is to get the good price you pay for 2 years up front. so it seems like a lot, but monthly, sooo cheap.
