Version 1.0 of my online Vinyl database

A while back I mentioned that I was entering all my vinyls into a database on my website. Thiw was to a) keep record of what tunes I have along with all the purchase details and b) to enable other people to easily see what vinyls I had.

I've entered about 100 12"s so far and adding about 15-20 a day. At the moment it's just a list format like Juno (very like Juno!) but I'll be adding a search function and more advanced features soon.

You can also sort by:

Label: http://www.expure.com/vdb/?orderby=label
Title: http://www.expure.com/vdb/?orderby=title

I could such a program too.. How can I get it?

Posted by Nautica on Apr-04-2002 15:39:

There are a couple of reasons why I'm doing this, firstly I'm developing an online recordstore application, so I'm using my own collection as a stock list.

It's also an easy way to keep my collection catalogued and viewable by anyone who wants to know what I have.

And of course to show off!

my layout

M.A.R.K. Your layout looks pretty sweet, did you scan the covers or just borrow the images from somewhere?

My scanner is only big enough to scan a 12" sleeve if I do it in two parts then join it together.

None of these for sale sorry!

Nice list also nice servers! where do you host it?

nah i didn't scan the covers. my scanner is only good enough for about 1/2 of the sleeve i think. i just grabbed the pics from places such as www.hmv.co.uk www.only-djs.com and www.611records.com and then resize it using adobe photoshop.

i host it off my ISP since they give me 10MB of webspace to go with their cable service.

System F feat. Armin van Buuren: Exhale (Remixed) (Tsunami Holland) - Euro Trance
12": Armin van Buuren Remix, Inhale Remix, , , , , (TSU6033)

is this a full tsunami release or just white label?

Posted by Mark on Apr-06-2002 04:05:

i'm sure it is a white label. i have the same thing same cat number and its a white.

Posted by Michael Russo on Apr-06-2002 04:15:

M.A.R.K, I'd take away that cross pointer and the coloured scrollbar from your layout. IMO it would make the page look more professional and less gimmicky. But that's just my personal opinion, please don't take offence.

PS - did I mention how jealous I am?

PPS - I remember now, yes, I did... in the continuity thread

Hey Nautica, out of curiosity what database are you using?

I'm writing my own fixed length (flatfile) database format using PHP, it's working really nicely so far (I know there's MySQL but not all webhost's support that)

cheers.

Posted by Nautica on Apr-06-2002 10:38:

It's a mySQL database. I've got some pretty serious hosting going on

I've got Frontpage extensions, PHP, MySQL, SSL, CGI, mailgroups, pop accounts, redirects, subdomains, webmail, web users, secure online administration, online database administration, reporting, raw access logs, raw error logs, autoresponders, Real Audio / Video support, Wusage stats, custom error pages, WAP support and unique IP.
