Is it juss me or AVB juss keeps gettin better

In the recent a state of trances, vanbuuren juss keeps dropin these amazing trax that im juss amazed at... who els thinks he should b number one insted of Van dyk

It's you. Not a fan and i love trance.

Posted by Thois on Mar-09-2007 03:47:

honestly, i was a big fan, but i think his playlist has become too big, the standard has become too low, because he likes to support all artists who have created a half decent tune somewhere in their life. He should just listen to each track and decide whether its good enough or not, but now all he does is look at who produced it.

He needs to tighten his selection... I liked Armin in 2002 or so, but i guess that has also a lot to do with the enourmous amount of quality productions that period. Its not easy these days to make a proper selection of quality tracks.

Blablabla, honestly i dont care. I only listen to my own selection of singles anyways. Just browse through a state of trance to scout new quality singles, but ive catched myself in finding less and less tracks to add to my playlist. Could be me though.

First I'd have to care.

I'm apparently seeing him in a few weeks. I'm not expecting much. At least this time I can drink away my boredom

Posted by DOOMBOT on Mar-09-2007 04:15:

Last couple times I saw him he played a lot of "banger" tracks, which I love! Problem was, he packs the house every time and even if you wanna dance your ass off, you can't. I've come to the conclusion that the only way I am going to enjoy his live sets anymore are going to be at outside venues where I have space to move around.

As far as the track selection goes, he has seemed to start playing a lot more techier, harder tracks. I miss some of the blissful tunes he would drop in his sets that would stop you from dancing for a moment because you were just simply amazed at the beauty of the track. He waited to drop those the last time I saw him, at the very end of the set and I was already too tired to care much.

I just can't wait to see him again. Always has and always will be one of my favs.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Mar-09-2007 04:51:

he's aite. he had a distinct play in the rise of trance music back in the day, but the stuff he has been spinning/producing/promoting has been the same shit that got him to the top of radio broadcasts. First 50 ASOTs were like WOW, cool! now it's like "WOW, when haven't i heard THAT before?????"

Posted by 1drp4fn on Mar-09-2007 05:09:

IDK, I feel the same way, AVB should def be no. 1, PVD's live sets seem like the same thing just in a different order...Armin keeps you wanting more on ASOT and Live...

its just you. he's gotten progressively worse since about 03 and he definitely is overrated, he only rates so highly now because of his superstar dj status.

productions wise its even more sour

Posted by siastyle on Mar-09-2007 05:30:

IF your were talking about tiesto, i would agree. Even tho tiesto is the insparation that got me djing, hes new productions are juss not to the standards of his other productions. his remixes are not as good ither, they dont have the fluency as the other ISOSs. but armin i think is doing great witht his djing and producing.

AVB found DJ Tiesto's career stages blueprint and is following it to a T.

his style has not changed one bit since blue fear, its just gotten cheesier and shitter. at least tiesto has evolved as an artist (even though atm its shit) but avb has just done the same thing over and over and over again but worse and worse. love you more was the peak of this imo

i just dont c how anybody could rate him as a decent producer anymore. his last decent production imo was burned with desire and it was still fucking cheesy. and as a dj i agree with nautilus he does just seem like a watered down version of tiesto just with his own radio show

Posted by isoterra on Mar-09-2007 07:46:

he's been worse every time i've seen him, and that's coming from someone who typically likes the styles of music he's known for playing. his tracklists are predictable & uninteresting, his mixing is really flat & he never takes any risks.. add to that most of the tunes he plays really lack in energy. he's the number 1 'safe' dj

last time i saw him the only tune i could bring myself to dance to was galen behr vs hydroid - carabella (behr & nilson remix)

Posted by the gamemaster on Mar-09-2007 08:02:

yea i saw him ages ago, the whole set just seemed to trudge along at the same pace the whole fucking time and there was just no energy, nothing that just got u excited and want to move. yoji biomehanika was the complete opposite of this when i saw him in sydney, he took heaps of risks and lit up the place with his combination of prog and hard trance. it was truly an awesome set, u just had to be there, there was so much fucking energy.

yet people seem to be hung up on the big names who really arent great at all which is really just getting fucking ridiculous. pvd, tiesto and oakenfold are the epitome of this and im just tired of it to be honest. why cant some dj's who actually do something fresh and great be rated up there with these hacks rather than just in their shadow despite being far better in almost every aspect of their djing.

my no. 1 dj has now changed , i used to like tiesto as the no. 1 now i have changed my mind towards Armin Van Buuren, i don't care what anyone else says he rulz the world.

+1

perhaps the big stumbling block for him the next few years will be that the same people won't swallow the same shite twice re: mass-marketing and excessive drivel.

Great producer, he is boring as a dj.

Armin used to play and produce house, then when it wasn't up to his
liking, he got himself to do trance, he started off doing variable
sets which most people here seem to like, for me it's something
along prog., dark melodies and sounds, with occasional techno and so
on, but even that didn't do it, when he started doing uplifting,
melodic ASOT episodes, and I don't care what you say his (especially)
longer sets will take you on a journey from every form of EDM; it's
when I really liked and appreciated what he's doing. Today it's shifted
a bit as he's playing tech-trance which everyone don't seem
to agree but he moves the crowd as always, and most of these people
never post on forums, so it's ludocris to say he's lost it, he's on
top more than ever, what's one persons copper is another's gold.
I'm not saying it's all perfect, he's got a big management think-tank
behind him now driving him to the top, making sure he's exposed, and
it reflects on when you're in a club, it gets rammed, less chance for
interaction, it's all broader, but if we return to the music it's still all good,
I for one like it, it doesn't mean it couldn't be
better, it could also be worse, his mixing has never been in doubt,
what you call "playing it safe" I call perfectionism, it could be
easier I guess than mixing house and prog. like Yoji but then again
that's not the music I like to hear. To each their own.

Posted by the gamemaster on Mar-09-2007 10:44:

not playing it safe??? ITS THE SAME FUCKING SHIT he was doing when he got big, there is hardly any tech trance from the tracklistings ive seen and on asot. its just the same boring stuff over and over again with the same style and same boring tempo

This thread is hilarious. Don't deny it: The OP was ALL OF YOU in 2002, and all your replies were me.

In a few years, he will do the same, claiming that 2006 was the best year, and it's really gone downhill.

He won't need the same people, because in a few years there will be a new generation of noobs ready and willing to swallow his vitriol, much to your chagrin.

Posted by chRonique on Mar-09-2007 12:32:

well i must say ASOT quality has decreased some over the years.. but to me its still the best radio show around .. along with the deep blue radio show with agnelli & nelson

And well does armin get better .. i don't know really but atleast he stayed true to the music in my opinion unlike some other world famous deejays..

I never been to a armin gig irl but from movies ive seen i think he does some nice interaction with the crowd tho ? or am i mistaking , can correct me if im wrong.

and ofc his production rock imho, except when he goes like trance anthem- style deluxe such as sail and stuff , that i did not like.

anyway these are my 2 cents
