Depeche Mode Poll

It is undeniable the effect that British Synth-Rock band Depeche Mode has had on the EDM scene. From Steve Lawler to Paul Oakenfold, Depeche mode has influenced a generation of British DJ's, and has certainly influenced me towards EDM from an early age.

This post is also to share some favorite remixes, and sets containing DM.

Your thoughts? Love em? hate em?

one of the best singer songwriter partnerships ever. Dave's voice and Martins words. Nevermind the amazingly catchy electronic beats.

I have loved Depeche Mode for years since I was a kid, I have all their albums and the remix box set is simply amazing!!!

..........and wow at the 10-0 vote so far

I guess people outside the EDM scene dont like depeche mode. Most of my friends dont know a single track.

Only when I lose myself (Lexicon Avenue Remix).....booya!

Posted by Abercrombie on Mar-10-2007 20:45:

Ya...what are you talking about guy? There's a bar here in Windsor that has retro nights every weekend and Depeche Mode is always on the play list - their ORIGINAL songs, not the EDM remixes. The place goes mad!

Posted by English Rachel on Mar-10-2007 21:55:

I LOVE THEM

Went to see them here Nov 05. Fucking amazing.

Influenced me from the start too.

Posted by above'N'beyond on Mar-10-2007 21:55:

well I guess that's why....being 22, most kids from my generation don't know Depeche Mode, and if they do, they know maybe one or two songs, cnosidering they started before I was even born

Hahah what friends do you hang out with? I'm 22 as well, and I have friends that are 21 - and we all listen to Depeche Mode!! My friends are all really into the 80s and retro stuff though. So if you're friends are more into the Top 40, rap crap, then that could be why.

Maybe that's because people who go to a Retro night in the first place are the same kind of people who like DM....see the corroloation?

I'd like to see some statistics on that, b/c my group of friends that are into the 80s and retro stuff all hate EDM. All except for 2 of them.

Ahh...I thought you just forgot to put the E.

But my earlier point was made b/c you said that most people in your generation don't know who Depeche Mode is. I was saying that I'm the same age as you, as are many of my Windsor friends and they all know who Depeche Mode. So I wouldn't say its necessarily an age thing.

If it was an age thing, how would you explain lots of people are aged knowing a lot of 70s rock artists.

Totally agree with both your points. You don't know how long it took me and Josh to figure out the id for A Pain That I'm Used To.

Yeah, I'm really too lazy to upload the loads of DM material that I have. However, here's a live bootleg from the Ottawa show I was at 6 years ago that I just found on the NYTA download thread. Anyone feel like hearing one of Martin Gore's live DJ sets? Maybe, I'll upload later...

youre right lisa...im not saying its an age thing. What i was trying to see with this poll was the correlation between Depeche Mode fans and EDM fans....thats all....a little study if u will

i hope Lalwer drops some DM on Fri....

Posted by brightnights on Mar-10-2007 22:49:

love 'em

favourite: tie between Precious (DJ Dan 6AM Mix) and Suffer Well (Narcotic Thrust Mix)

Posted by yeahyeahyeah on Mar-10-2007 22:52:

love the band.
'stripped' is probably my fav song.

but house remixes of depeche mode are the most played out, cheesiest songs ever.
seriously, i wish everyone would just stop wih the DM remixes.

Posted by Cro_Addict on Mar-10-2007 22:53:

Posted by urban_legend on Mar-11-2007 00:20:
