Ortofon or Stanton
I am just starting out DJing, getting my decks and stuff within 2 weeks. What are better cartridges, the Ortofon Concorde Silvers or the Stanton Groovemaster II RM? Also I notice the groovemasters have the built in headshell but can anyone tell me if the ortofon do also, cause they are the ones I would prefer to get. Here are some links to info about them.... Ortofon Concorde Silver
Stanton Groovemasters
Thx in advance.
Go for the Ortofons. Yes they do have the "built in headshell", i.e. they go directly onto the tonearm istead of attaching first onto the headshell.
But, go for the Ortofon Concorde DJ (blue) rather than the silver - the silver ones are identical to the black ones (the "Pro" = the lowest in the range) in everything but color. They just charge more for them because they're silver. The blue ones have a better stylus - they track better and give better sound quality, and cost only a small amount more or the same as the silver ones.
The Ortofon one... is that price the pair or just one needle?, I need needles too but i just have 100 Bucks.. maybe ill have to wait untill get more money.
Thanks
Ortofon
No argument there.
Stanton. Like mine very much.
Ortofon produce the best cartridges and stylus' in the world... its just that some of the higher range can get into high $$$
If you've got the dough, Ortofons.
If you just wanna practise, Stantons.
I luv my concordes, and u will 2
Ortofons, no doubt about it. they are the best
i have the concorde pro, can i put different stylus on them? like the needles from the "blue" series? or will i have to get whole new cartridges?
Yes, all Ortofon styli will fit all Ortofon cartridges. (Obviously i mean the ones intended for DJ use, their audiophile range are different).
You can't go wrong with any Ortofons. They are a little more expansive but you got first quality. Get them.
