My, how we've all changed (index of party reviews)
Find the first review thread that you ever posted in on TA.
I was reading some old threads from 2005, and it brought back many memories for me. Mostly of how ignorant I was of the scene. And how overly nice I was to everyone.
I dug up the review thread of my first EDM experience. It was Marcel Woods @ Viva.

Behold, my n00blar review! (From LoL 05)
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...d=&pagenumber=2

| I got in around 10:30ish (WTF? Line up that big at 10?) and stuck around Charley's for a while. (Caught some 20 mins of Sander but he didn't do much for me) When Ferry came on, well, my hands didn't come down for first 2 hours. Then arms got kinda tired. :P I've never seen Ferry live before and he didn't disappoint. The guy looks like he's having the most fun at the club when he's spinning. He's got that look on his face while DJing that he's having so much fun that you're feeling that you're having as much fun as him. It's like Ferry's invited you to his personal party and all he wants you to is to have fun. (Damn those security guards for ruining some of Ferry's fun) There were few spots where I felt he was losing some of the crowd but he dropped Punk and there was that. Nu-NRG was pretty good too. When they dropped Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (I think it was Nu-NRG's mix) I almost died. I love that tune. But they didn't have Ferry's charisma on deck. I wish they were on longer than an hour. Infusion was something new to me. Certainly different. The vocal guy's style was to get the crowd involved and he's still learning, I think. But overall an enjoyable set, though not something I want to listen to a lot. It was like 6 something so I went to Charley's to crash out for 20 mins and then got second wind (who was dropping those tunes? they were awesome). Around 7 got back to Deko Ze and went hard until around 8 and then I called it quits. Only disappointment I really had was I met no TOTAs! *grumbles something about lack of coordination) Leave no TAs behind, guys. Let's try to get more new TAs involved. Hope to see a lot of you at Armin/Infected Mushroom. PS: Caught some of Mark Oliver too. Damn he's good. |

Talla 2XLC @ Viva in 2002

Nice thread.. was interesting scrolling back. I realized I didn't really write many reviews back in the day either. But I found one from Tiesto at Kool Haus is 2002. Ahh the warm and fuzzy days of TOTA.

| This party was so easy to predict. It was basically exactly what I expected. A packed crowd, hot and sweaty, and a mostly predictable set from Tijs. This is not a bad thing though. I heard tons of tracks I wanted him to play and would have been disappointed if they weren't played. Iio - At the end (scumfrog) Conjure One - Tears from the Moon (Tiesto ISOS) Lange - Don't think it feel it Green Martian - Wizardry ... would have prefered Harmonic Minor Tomcraft - Loneliness ... Would have been my song of the night if I didn't play it 5 times a day for 2 weeks straight. Madonna - Die Another Day (Tiesto Dedicated Mix) - OMG first time hearing this track. MY song of the night! Roc Project - Never (Tiesto mix) Flight 643 - I loved how the crowd went insane for this one. Would have prefered Lethal Industry though. Mindcircus was great to hear too!! +so many more amazing tunes It was almost surreal looking at Tiesto up on the decks. To me he's no different from than any other huge celebrity and everytime I see him in person I go "holy fuck thats actually Tiesto up there". At times he did seem tired but he was also having a good time. 3 hours and 15 minute set was disappointing a little bit and the lack of an encore was kinda rude. I agree with Swamper that he didn't take it up to the very limit as we hoped. Over all nothing mind blowing. A predictable set with a familiar tracklist but they were songs I liked so its not really a complaint. After Tiesto went off. Dekoze steps up to the decks and I was shocked and elated as it was not expected. Having seen Dekoze countless number of times I knew that this meant the night was not over. And luckily for Dekoze Tiesto left the roof up for him to bring it down. I was expecting a closer who played something with less tempo. But Dekoze plays it hard funky techy and trancy. Heard some awesome tunes but can't recall many names right now except for better man which was a great closing track. Parties like this though it is more about the people. And holy crap this was like the whose who of the party scene for me. Ya Highroller that was hilarious when we walked to the washrooms after we got in and I had to say whats up and chat for a sec to about 10 people. It was great to have so many friends there but it made it hard to decided where I wanted to spend most of my time. Eventually I just merged crews with Malice and we took over a corner with more space (special thanks for the after-chill it was awesome!). Best TA meet up I've ever been to! This is the best group to party with ever! Such a positive vibe. Mad respect! It makes every good party a great one. Met so many for the first time too! Which is always a good thing. There is no hope that i will remember everyone as its seems other have since there was way too many out there. Shouts: Malice, Liquidchick and Crew. Spent most of the night with y'all and it was sick. Next time maybe I can plan something for an after-party at my Sis's place so i can return the hospitality. Sober247 - My Bunring hommie!! That was one excellent conversation we had just b4 4:20 ; We'll link up soon. Cottage crew reunion? tatgirl - Next time I will smoke ya up but i'll make sure its after. Mike and Jenna - Since I know that you'll be reading this! We need to spend time in the future. *finds true north card* Pre-Meet crew - The perfect precurser b4 a party to get you in the right mood. Luke Fair - 6/10: It got me moving but it also had me standing when I wanted to be moving. DJ Tiesto - 8/10: Still a good set but he could have done a little better. Dekoze - 9/10: Didn't steal the show from Tiesto or anything but rocked it still! Crowd - 6/10: A bit of everything there but there was a vibe in there and People I met were pretty cool. Only can think of 2 idiots that bothered me that night which is good ratio for that venue. But ya bit too crowded. Sound - 5/10: Loud bass hurts ears. Overall - 7.5/10 OK damn thats it .. the last time I ever write such a long review. But there was so much to say. END! |
haha, reading back 2001 tiesto review.... i can can definitely see that I couldn't speak proper English, tiesto blew my brains out or maybe that was me being a fresh immigrant ... all this immigrants coming to this country and cannot speak no kanada gud!
I always like going through my old posts to rewind some memories. It's like going through old pictures but deeper.
At the time that i started posting here I was the biggets e-tard ,lol. And my english lacked bigtime. didn't know how to type proper.

The music to me was insane, the crowd was bumpin, this is my best party yet. this was my first time @ viva so next time i have to remember to bring some sunglasses so my retna doesnt get burned out, and bring some glowsticks so i dont have to pay $8!!! i met some very friendly people last night, and again im really glad i came. i didnt know ANYONE and people like RJ, sonny, and ken, and the guy who took his cousin (i cant remember his name). you guys made me feel so welcome the people i saw there was tatgirl, RJ (whats your screen name?), firestarter (whats your name again?), sonny (whats your screen name), mot1on, DJ Hordash, and many others who i dont know there screen names, or names :P thanks guys for a GREAT party! p.s. if you are wondering who i am, i was the tall white guy wearing a black sweater with the REALLY bright glowsticks. |

| Originally posted by sticky_shoes I'm a house head at heart, but I've decided to join the TA bandwagon...I guess I wanted to get the best of both worlds from this site...hehe Now, for my review... As Chinamon summed it early, I totally agree with the dude! I guess you can say that great minds think alike (duh...we're both from Markham...that's a given)! I've never been to TIL before that night, and I could that it was more than I expected to be. I was all smiles when I left at 5ish in the morning... M&S - They put out a really solid set. It was early, and no one on the dance floor except for a couple of losers (i.e. me...haha). You can't help but dance if the music moves your body. Masiello/Fanciulli tagteam set - Though their styles were somewhat different, I think they as a whole, dropped it "like it's hot..." (haha). Fanciulli - Wow, this man put out some funky, sexy, house!!! It was my first time seeing this guy live, and I liked it! Though he wasn't interacting that much with the crowd, you can tell that he was focused on droppin' a good set. Good mixing, good tunes...overall, a good job ![]() Masiello - OMFG, the man of the hour...no no...the man of the freakin' night! I can't even explain the feelin' I was gettin' each time this man build-up each track. All I can say is that I was gettin' goosebumps. Some of the house he put out was kind of techny and trancey...but variety is good...haha Moreover, the guy really knows how to appreciate the love given to him by the crowd!Overall, I had a blast! The place was good and high-rolling (more intimate than the Guv for sure, but room to dance!). The dress code was a bit on the dressy side (but I saw some people dressed down a bit...so I'll keep that in mind next time...), but it was alright. It was nice to spend the night/morning with fine gentlemen and lovely ladies...maybe except for your odd sketchy dudes...hehe! Met up with a couple of HAs (daves, and another dude...sorry I missed you Irgz!), and met and were introduced to a couple of TAs. Chinamon...good to see someone reppin' Markham on here I hope to you see again in the upcoming events!! Nice pics BTW ![]() Yes...I look like shit!!! But, the event WAS the shit b/c of this dude... ![]() So it's all good OMG...the moment of night for me was when I was on the stage, and during Masiello's build-ups, I held up my hand to him, and he grabbed it! We started jumpin' up like crazy mothereffers!!! So wicked!! I'll never forget that for sure Too bad I didn't bring my digicam, and the pics/vids I was taking on my phone were crap!Anyway, I wrote a novel...haha...though you won't see one of these in a while...I beg the question... "To see Danny Howells 6 hour extended set @ TIL on my b-day or not to see it..." ---to be continued...haha Sticky_shoes = jaxeline on HA |

Met a couple of TAs including Margaret; for some reason she was the one I recognized first. I met RJ, Jon Jon, and I can't remember the rest :S I was wearing a black/white dress shirt and dancing like a maniac heh. I hate this kind of "rockstar" attitude. Maybe if they actually played a good set then it would be somewhat understandable. |
Good thread Katie!
My first party review was from Tiesto @ The Docks, June 30th 2005. Not my first party though, nor my first party with some of the TAs.
| quote: |
| Okay...back from the wedding...wasn't as bad as I had expected. But now I can write a formal review. I got to the Docks around 11:30ish...and it was jam packed! I was so glad there was no coat check this time! I headed out to the patio...I didn't realize how big it was, I didn't even get to see all of it. I didn't really say Hi to too many of the TAs right away, b/c I am super shy. But then Jem_hadar saw me and of course I had to give him a huge hug! The night continued on, and my friend Trisha and I were bouncing around all over the place. We kept losing our friends though...but then that encouraged us to meet new ones. We many people, lots of them TAs. Once I started rollin' I just started going around to people asking them if they were TAs. I found it amusing when I was like "Are you guys TAs?" and they'd reply back with "No, I'm on E." Haha I was quite satisfied with Tiesto's track selection, though I'm surprised he didn't play more from Just Be. Some of my highlights...I Know You're Gone, Six Hours 'Til Morning, Bad, Urban Train, North Pole, Darkside of the Moon!!! I totally forgot how badly I wanted him to play that, and when that came on I started belting out the words like no tomorrow. Naranja...I wanted to hear that song SO badly in December, and for a long time I thought he played it and I missed it (big misunderstanding between Josh and I, thinking we were talking about the same song, when really the other was Murder Was The Bass)...but when he pulled that out, I was so pumped. That Push song from Innercity...what's it called? I seem to think it's called Universal Nation, but my friend insists it's called The Anthem...regardless, I've heard it played before, but never like that! And of course my number one highlight...Flight 643, my favorite Tiesto track ever! I wanted him to play that back in December as well...and I was so upset he didn't. But it was DEFINATLY worth the wait! That was fucking INSANITY!!!! Ohhhh and that last track that Tiesto played...HOLY CRAP! I hope someone IDs that fucking track b/c it was SUCH a great song!! Though I wasn't too pleased about how he just peaced out after it! Ah...speaking of IDing songs, I guess I could look this one up, but in case someone already knows...the DJ that spun after Tiesto played a song from Ferry Corsten @ Innercity, and I was asking everyone what it was called b/c I loved it! It was a sik remix he played too. But anyway...I still don't know what it's called, and I must find out! My friend liked to call it "Ferry Corsten...Innercity...20th minute." I thought that was quite amusing, but I'm still not satisfied. (Also, I don't know if it actually is at the 20th minute - but if anyone knows what track I'm talking about, and the name...let me know.) Anyway...I know this is long, but I gotta do some shout outs before I'm done...I met SO many TAs finally for the first time, so I need to say Hey! IllnAda...had a great time dancing with you! You rocked that stage! Lars...so much fun to party with you again babe! Fahad...we've finally met in person...though apparently you don't remember me! Haha j/k Vertigo...awesome to meet you in person as well! RJ...I expect you and Frank down in Windsor soon...I mentioned it in the Zone review, but the food, beer and beats (and car parts) are awaiting you. Pat...good to meet you...I thought you took off before I could say goodbye, but you came back! Dufarei...a little disapointed this was probably the first and last time I'll get to party with you, but hopefully you'll be back for a visit! Have a safe journey to Cali. Yankeebaby...glad you made it down to the Tdot And so many others...PartEgirl, Stereoprincess, Magikb, Karim, MissK, Sean Michael Douglas Cassidy (love the name!)...and any others that I forgot, I'm sorry! (I'm sure some people probably forgot meeting me too! hehe) Anyway, it was a great night folks! I hope to see you all again soon! Oh, yea and Jamie...though I forgot you eh? Here's you're two lines... GOOD TIMES! Haha...just kidding! Of course I have more to say. It was awesome to meet you in person finally, after talking to you for so long. I'm really glad you came up to me and gave me a giant hug! I had SUCH a great time dancing and partying with you, and I'm glad you made it out to the Zone for your first time! Sorry I couldn't make it out to the beach, but I'm glad we got to party for a few hours...haha Ciaoooo bellas! |
| quote: |
| Ah shit, I remembered a few people I forgot to mention! Cam...great to see you again buddy...though it was for a short time! I run in to you right when I get there, and then I don't see you again until you're leaving! Dan...it was great to finally meet you as well...you tore up that dance floor! Swamper...of course..."Tranceaddict"...that's all I hear as I'm walking by, and I turn around, and there you are in a TA shirt! Unfortunatly, I didn't see you the rest of the night...and I know there was another TA with you...sorry I can't remember which one. TheVrk...gotta mention you! It was great to party with you...and I expect to see a CD waiting at my doorstep within the next month. Two words...Club Night (2003) haha Dance2thebeat, Starsearcher, RichardTaylor, Pettiscool...I remember meeting you and others...yet I can't put faces to the names right now, so I'll have to check out Karim's thread! But it was great to meet you all, finally! Hope to see you again soon! |
