trance the devils music?

my dad claims that "club" music, is the devils music. hes a big person on god and I personally think he is fucking crazy. I mean I was like on most of the songs its just beats, he responded with.. "I know its the beats that are from the devil, its not words". what the fuck, now he claims I cannot spin my music anymore or hes kicking me out of the house. He also said Im doing drugs again because I started listening to "club music".. even though I never STOPPED doing drugs.. I just hid it really well for a while.. ahh fuck him.. any thoughts?

OMG, that is so weird that you brought up this topic. I remember making a mixed cd for a friend a few years ago. I included mainstream tunes like Azzido Da Bass - Doomsnight, Progress pres. Boy Wunda - Everybody, stuff like that which he really liked. When he got home his parents used the EXACT same words to describe the music. They called it devil's music. Weird that it happened to you too...hmmmm.

there are crazy christians all over the place.

i'm sorry your dad is one of them.

tell him this country has freedom of religion, and you can practice whatever religion you want. and that even if you want to be christian, there is absolutely nothing demonic about any music. it does not say anything about music in the bible, nor has ANY pastor preached against it, it is only the crazy christians who are insecure with themselves and their beliefs that are this way.

have a little talk with your dad. ask him why he really thinks the music is devilish. ask him about the stereotypes that he's imposing on you (trance=drugs). ask him what HE listened to when he was YOUR age! i bet ya that'll make him think.

and a funny thing, i gave my mom a "trance nation america" cd, the cheesiest cd i have (has ian van dahl - castles in the sky on it + more) so she could work out to it. she later said that the only thing you could do while listening to that kind of music is working out, and even that was a bit hard for her... too repetitive... and i relax when i listen to trance...

You must be straight up with him when it comes to the drugs part however...
Yes, it's a free country blah blah ad naseum, BUT if you're living under HIS roof, then respect the wishes of the master of the castle.
Don't get me wrong, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR SITUATION and yes it sucks, but I can say this because I've BEEN THERE.
Not the music issue, but the issue about the rules of the house.
Until you move out, you might have to abide by some rules (as much as that sucks).
Buy some good headphones and be quiet about it I guess.
But as far as the drugs part (which I'm sure is the more pressing issue with dear ole' dad) but honest with him.
Believe it or not, he's just worried...(even if he doesn't really show it that way)

The devil's music is Happy HardCore and whoever play it should be shot.

well is he religious? have a religious cousin and her dad, my uncle, says that its written in the bible or some kinda religious text where the world would presence the devil's doing cause its followers would have rituals which consisted of them dancing in masses, kinda jumping..basically describing the crowds at events with their eyes rolling (e).and sum bullshit like that

Devil's music, eh? Regular mortals study music, make sounds that sound good to them, package the results and sell them. Where does the devil come in?

umm.. does that not describe everything/ ANYTHING where people are having fun. i mean, the bible is written in such a way that it is open for interpretation and -obviously- this you can interpret anyway you want it. Really practical, if you want to start a witch hunt...

anyhow, I got to agree with the other guy that said that you basically have the choice of stopping the drug thing or getting thrown out. I am sure, if you show your dad, that you can do the trance without the drugs, that Trance != Devil..

my dad only thinks.. stuff like neophyte and dj promo isnt music.. not that he respects my trance.. but still.. Hardcore is for the mentally insane in his opinion (love blasting that)

okay, I'm not gonna involve myself with the drugsthingy... no experience in that...

but about the clubmusic = devil: tell him that there are loads and loads of christian trance/club/techno producers out there, that make trance music with there religious background as the basic of it!! that should shut him for a while . also lots of trance/clubdj's are religious thereselves! so go on and use these arguments
(since I am not at home at the moment I can't give examples at the moment...)

and about the dancing thingy: in the bible people dance to when they were happy..

just for security reasons you should avoid tracks like 'dance with the devil' and marco V's godd, allthough the last one isn't antireligious, it takes WAY to much effort to explain it...

my only guess as to why some individuals think trance = devil's music is due to the historic significance of trance in certain shamanistic cultures... certain african tribes and such used this type of music to communicate with spirits... or something along those lines

there was a thread in these forums regarding the history of trance... i think i read it on there or something

The only music think is deveil's music is death metal. U've got the guy screaming his lungs about about glorifying Satan and preaching about mass destruction.

I think maybe your dad was refering to the actual 'club culture' as ungodly but not the music itself ?

ok, I know, ALOT of this stuff usually does glorify the little red dude....

but also here: if you read some of the lyrics (do they actually 'sing' something?? yes they do )you find out that some bands prais God.... okay, it may seem a little strange to you, but it is the truth!! and some of 'em are truly believers in God and have there own (strange) way of expressing that!

anywayz: don't stereotype everything man! everyone...(woops, now I am stereotyping)... ALOT of people do that to trance as well.. don't make that mistake yourself...
