Ulrich Schnauss- A Strangely Isolated place

I just started listening to this album today and I gotta say that it is really awesome! Some really trippy stuff! Has anyone else heard this album?

Far Away Trains Passing By is better IMO.

Their both good. I prefer "A Strangely Isolated Place". I find myself having to skip some tracks on "Far Away Trains Passing By". There's some gems like "Nobody's Home", "Suddenly The Trees" and "As If You've Never Been Away", but a few of the others are just okay. The only track I really don't like on "A Strangely Isolated Place" is "On My Own". It fit well on Sasha's "Involver" but it seems kind of out of place on "A Strangely Isolated Place".

Ulrich Schnauss is indredibly talanted and A Strangely Isolated Place is his masterpiece. Every track is absolutely flawless, the title track is one of my all-time favorites, there are some hard-on-inducing chord shifts in there.

Another amazing work of his is the remix he made for Depeche Mode - Little 15, it's a little masterpiece as well.

I think it's just as important as the other tracks, and i really like it. It works well imo to have a little shift in mood somewhere on the album, to get a slight sense of contrast and dynamic.

I prefer Far Away.., as a whole just does it for me better than A Strangely.. yet both of them are good. Looking forward to his new album whenever it's coming out.

The latter two feature only on the '05 US reissue tho, not on the original '01 German release.

A Strangely Isolated Place is one of my favourite albums. Ulrich is bringing out his third album in May called "Goodbye" - really looking forward to it. Check out some of his remixes too - Mojave 3 "Bluebird Of Happiness" and Justin Robertson pres. Revtone "Love Movement" are both excellent.

Both of ulrich's albums are very nice...love his sound!

But even better:

Love the album. All tracks are beautiful, but my favourite is A Letter From Home. His other album is also good, maybe even better

Does he play all the synth parts? Ive seen some pictures of him and it looks like he plays on a couple different synths.

I love Ulrich. What a pleasant surprise that there's a new album coming out in a few months!

He does, I believe, a combination of live synths and pre-programmed stuff. Some of his music is too complex, layered to have all the parts be performed live, it's largely studio music.

Yeah I like that track too, forgot it....

I like his more melodic, sublime..bittersweet type music, vs. the more experimental sounding stuff that kind of reminds me of Boards Of Canada, but that's only a few tracks on that album that are like that.
