your first song ever!

This thread is dedicated to posting the first song you ever made. If you don't have a recording of it, I guess the oldest song you got can qualify. I'll start by posting mine.

Please don't laugh out loud

And as you can tell, I had absolutely no concept of mixing back then.

For some reason I was expecting that Well, put up!

I don't really have anything from before 2003 and the ones produced after that aren't really embarrassing enough to post

You might be surprised! Go for it!

I'm digging through old CDs to find something to upload...

No, really - I had a hard drive crash a couple of years ago so I don't really have any of my old crap.

Not really, there was really nothing worth saving there anyway

It doesn't have to be embarrasing :P just the oldest thing you got can work.

Posted by DigiNut on Mar-16-2007 22:35:

I actually did post them, a long time ago, though not on this subforum. Let's just say that they didn't get quite as many rave reviews as the newer ones I've posted.

These were the fun days...when i had no idea of what eqing, compression and mastering were...man I can still remember making this tune.

lol cool tunes

I know there's more out there!

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Mar-17-2007 09:40:

Right, here's the oldest one I can find:

Mr.Mystery - Stalking You

It's from 2002 and actually sounds much better than I remembered. This was actually originally a two part piece, the first part was a hectic breaks number called "The Chase" and this one continued directly from it (and had some of the same elements as well). I think I was aiming a bit higher than I could reach...

Posted by SMC on Mar-17-2007 10:29:

I lost many of my old tracks in crashes, but here is the oldest one i still have, it's one of my first tracks from 2001 or 2002, i can't remember.

Dude the beginning is sick! Haha that was some cool hihats n stuff. Yeah I like this one alot.

Im seriously surprised by the production quality of these tunes. Usually they sound like absolute crap. I was 16 when I made my first song I didn't know jack about compressors or stereo effects and phasing. I had to actually do some wave editing on that song vestigial because the bass phased out and you couldn't even hear the kick drum before. But it sounded good when I made it! lol I didn't know shit back then. Good times.

Posted by RichieV on Mar-18-2007 05:14:

i spent alot of time messing around before i decided to make a song. This was probably about 4 months after using things so i wasn't that new.

god listening to this again those reverse crashs are way out of sync

Nice thread!

Here's the first one ever (2000):

HERE

ReBirth
zero production and music theory knowledge
no mixing or mastering

And here's the second one (2000):

HERE

Fruity Loops
still zero production and music theory knowledge
no mixing or mastering
At that point I didn't even know the claps fall on the second and fourth beats, so they fall on the first and 3rd instead,

How awful! Good times

Bump! I know there's a few "producers" in this forum who haven't "contributed" yet.

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Mar-21-2007 01:31:

This is so embarrassing.

This was the first one that I "Export"ed from Myriad Melody Assistant, which was really a composition program that could only play midi sounds. I knew nothing about synthesis, compression, mixing, EQ... I didn't even know what clipping was. Subsequently, there is a lot of clipping. In fact, I don't even know if you'll be able to hear the song for all it's overdriven to hell.

i actually like some elements of this, despite that fact that its horriblely mixed.

for my contribution to this thread, i dug up my old 'soundclick' account and the two songs i uploaded years back are still there. No concept of mixing a few years ago, and a lot of weak elements. Although i don't mind some of the musical ideas i had in them.

Nice thread, I put my first song online and its been left there ever since, prepare for poorly mixed version of synaesthesia that I made in late 04'. I had no idea how to program a synth or do anything for that matter. Click on the Synaesthesia link on the website.
