sequential 2

anyone else pumped for this? i really loved the first sequential, it was the first place I heard 1983. yeah i know i should see hernan next time he's in the midwest, for some reason my calander always conflicts with his tour dates. he's got a nice style to everything he does.

The first sequential CD was without a doubt the single most boring mixed compilation I have ever heard. I wanted to like it so bad because the tracklist was pretty solid, but Cattaneo made my favorite tune from last year (Destiny) feel like a lullabye, and there is no reason that tune should ever feel that uninteresting.

The tracklist for the new one looks equally promising, I just hope he actually does somoething with it this time.

"Renaissance: Masters" and "Buenos Aires" both make the first "Sequential" sound utterly amateur.

can somebody fill me in on this? as in, what is it?

i don't suppose you're talking about abt's sequential one project?

excuse me for my ignorance

sequential was one of the stand out progressive releases to me in 2006. i listened to the 2nd disc while i watched interview with the vampire and thought it was a hellish combo. it was the first stuff i'd really heard from hernan (except for some sets he did with sasha) and since then ive bought the renaissance masters cds hes done and enjoyed them as well. unfortunatly ive missed hernan the last 2 times he came thru the midwest. not so next time.

anyway, hope that answered your question.

Great CD but I can't stand Hernan live. HE shows no crowd interaction.

i bought it.... not that fond of it, actually.

I prefer is Renaissance THE MASTERS Vol. 2, which i'm still loving....

I haven't listened to it in a looooong time, but I loved it when I first heard it (granted, my tastes have changed immensely since then), and 'Beastman' is still one of my favorite tracks from last year.

I was sure this thread was going to be about Mike Koglin Vs Jono Grant - Sequential, which is one of my all time favorite tracks. There's beauty in simplicity. I'll have to go track down some Hernan mixes to get up to speed on what this is really about.

And does anyone else think progresssive needs a spark, it's dark and beautiful but destined for mediocrity without some inovation. There's only so many minor riffs to lay down for a base line.
