Djing as a full time job
Do you mostly DJ in addition to having a 'normal' job, or do many of you DJ in clubs as your only job? I'd imagine its pretty difficult to get gigs often enough to make a living off just DJing
In addition...but I can't even say that because my last gig was about a year ago.
in addition
even when i ran a weekly and it was a full time job i was also working at the radio station as well
you need it, you're not jetsetting yet
In addition.
You have to be pretty damn good (or massively hyped about) to have it as a full time job.
It would be very difficult to have enough profitablt events here (on a regular basis) to pull in a regular income, so no. I DJ when I can, but I go into gigs with the intent of playing a great set, instead of hoping to get paid.
i make 400 a week djing and could easily live off of that in my mid-sized town. however, i love money so i also work at hollister as an assistant manager. i need a job on the books so i could get a car loan, health insurance, and all that good stuff....
being a full time dj would be cool, and i could do it, but it is A LOT of work. liscencing and all that red tape, i dont wanna get my own health insurance, retirement, and all that crap keeps me from going full time.

I gotta have a day job. DJing full time sucks your soul out unless you're fairly famous in which case you're then allowed to do your own thing.
