REVIEW - Chus & Ceballos/ DJ Vibe @ The Docks

Wow Wow Wow is all I can really spit out at this moment, that and I think thats the way to really describe the night.

Got there early. was not busy at all. NO lines which was amazing since I will never use coat check at the Docks after my last party there. Jeff you set was awesome once again you never cease to amaze.

Saw a lot of familar faces and the dance off was a success! Girl you can move! You know who you are

The vibe was great at the front of the area but I felt like I was at CZ near the side bar where the car wash crew hangs out in the middle to back area of the dance floor. I looked down from the upstairs and theree were more people topless than had shirts on.

Chus & Ceballos never disappoint!!!!

Wow how the fuck did they make Andains - Beautiful Things so good with that tribal goodness!?!?!

Over all I havent had energy for a party like that in awhile, and with all the good people around you couldnt help but have the best time of your life!

OK I am done, Szabo good seeing you out tonight, shithead.

what remix is that...HOW THE FUCK did i miss it??????
anyways review below

when i heard about this weekend about 2 months or so ago, it made my insides feel all funny in anticipation of the quality of music I was going to hear. Honestly Lawler and Chus and Ceballos. These two are the defintion of what house music means to me at this point in time so its safe to say i was hyPed.

Part 1 of this weekend got done yesterday at This is London where Steve Lawler left his imprint firmly in Toronto with a stellar residency opener.

nothing could exceed the quality of the music lawler threw down so what i was lookin for at the docks was a perfect compliment to the previous nights debauchary.

Not only did i get what i was lookin for in Chus and Ceballos and their terrific set but i got a lil bonus with DJ Vibe and mindblowing tunage. Vibe was WICKED!!!! holy shit i couldn't believe my ears at times.

BRING HIM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as for chus and ceballos, i thought they were slow off the line. Woulda been a perfect start to a longer set but for 3 and half hours, i was expecting more kick in the beginning. Didn't take these two too long to kick things up a few notches however and an hour into it, my lil groovy head bop had turned into some serious foot stompin...

I have been in musical bliss for the last 2 days and now am going to relish the sleep that awaits.

God bless House Music!

Chus and ceballos were on as always. Tried to stay for vibe but his tracks would just drag on and it was very down beat.

It was great partying with the CLOWNS again as always we tore the place up.

I really loved just about everything Vibe was doing. I think it would have been over the top for me if he would have slowed the tempo down just a little and really dragged it out. I found that the pace of his set and transitions between mixes made me feel anxious for the first while. I think the problem is that the Docks is so huge and impersonal...the vibe is literally expanded out and uncontained all over the room.

Other than that I thought Vibe was pretty dope...so many tasty layers of rhythms, yummm!

C&C were C&C, what else needs to be said? They're predictable in a good way, meaning that they can always be counted on to deliver, and they did..again. Their consistency and dependability is unmatched, imo.

The boys in the Liberation Lounge started off the night perfectly too. I think it was Jeff playing when C&C came on...Sheldon and I were noticing how the beats from both rooms were mixing together, and that's always a good sign, hehe.

Bit of a backwards review..but eh.

I had a really awesome time...I dunno if it's cause I haven't been out in a while or what....but it really seemed like all the elements were there. Great mixed crowd full of HOT women, holy. I felt horny and pervy several times last night, thank god I didn't get more drunk than I was!

Really good seeing everyone...and meeting a few new peeps too...hi Nada!

edit: Miss you Jay, assdick. <3

just checked out your pics, and that^^^ pic is easily my favorite...(just posted it in the tribe review )

I'm with Jennie on this one. Vibe was awesome, but his mixing/track selection just wasn't meshing together properly. The tracks were a bit too fast, somewhere around 129, and his mixing was....choppy. Still had a blast though

Chus and Cebellos were great, def my favorite set of the night...however I will never EVER refer to them as C&C...there can be only one, imo...

They kept a little bit of crowd in there, not too bad...I kept going back and forth between them and the main room.

This is going to sound weird, but I went there kind of expecting to have a bad time...but ended up having a blast! (Actually, I don't really know how I ended up deciding to go lol)

Got there at about 1am and rocked out within arms reach of the bar, soaking up the last bits of St Paddy's before last call lol.

Jay, you made my night. Wouldn't have had such a great time if I didn't run into you and Tyler.

Met some really cool guys, unfortunately I don't remember names , but we rocked out front and center for a while.

Loved the tropical theme thing going on!

Thx Tamiko for not letting me drive home - I owe you one <3

Unexpected good times usually turn out to be the best times

I had a blast. It was my first 'tribal' event and was really looking forward to hearing c&c and vibe. Downloaded a bunch of their sets in the past 2 weeks and thats all I've been listening to to get pumped up. I almost didn't even come due to work and being sore from the purple room the night before but after sucking it up I decided to go.

After listening to all their sets I came in expecting a good show, and encountered what I wanted to experience x10. Surprisingly it was pretty dead at the beginning I guess everyone just wanted to show up for C&C. Coat check was fucking brutal, never want to do that again and also coming up to the door and finding out I had to pay $50 instead of the $40 I thought I'd have to mutter up didn't impress me either...

Although those 2 things were a dissapointment it surely didn't stop me from having a blast. I tried to dance in the middle of thd dancefloor near the stage for a bit but there were too many "look at me im sexy" people just standing there not doing anything so I went to the back near the big speaker and just fuckin gave'er for a solid 30-45 min. ....then i heard sander van doorn - grasshopper WOW i was totally shocked/excited when i heard that and told my friend to bust out the camera and start videotaping it, and what a fuckin coincidence is that my good friend alex who loves SVD too called me at the exact same time!!! So i was talking to him on the phone and dancing my ass off at the same time, it was awesome!

C&C definately delivered, I LOVED the dirty tribal basslines they put out, it's just sooooo easy to dance to. So I went to the liberation lounge after where I spent most of the rest of my night dancing up a storm, i probably lost like 2 pounds last night doing it LOL. Don't really know who the DJs were but they definately played music I enjoyed to the fullest.

Went back out to hear Vibe and he KICKED ass for the 30 min I stayed...met a few hot chicks and taught them how to dance my style which was pretty fun lol, sorry i dont even know their names or anything if they post on here.

Met a bunch of TAs, too many to list but you guys know who you are and im always looking forward to partying with you again and getting more into the scene, i LOVE it.

Great night, 8.5/10.

glad to hear despite this, you still had a good time.....

but the amount of times guestlist was discussed in both the roll call and the event forum - you had plenty of options to avoid paying this much!

Great, great night overall.

I was very impressed with the look and feel of the Docks last night. The sound was greatly improved, it was cool and comfortable all night - and the decor was top notch.

The vibe in the lounge was great! People came out early, and the room seemed at it's fullest around midnight - was great to play for so many good people. I had a lot of fun going back2back with Kev.

Missed all of Sean's set, but heard good things. Chus & Ceballos came on, and for a minute I thought it was still Sean playing. They were quite techy and bouncy to start.... this is definitely the sound I enjoy the most from these guys. They eventually progressed into their signature 'Stereo' sound - and towards the middle/end of their set, they just abused us all. Pure druggy filth, I really enjoyed it.

Vibe came on a little late (apparently he was pretty wiped from his gig the night before, and slept through his wake-up call - lol). But he picked up where C & C left off, and set the crowd into a frenzy. I was totally spent around 6am, which is a shame since he started playing his best just as I left.

Thank you for all of you who came out for this, and showed your love often and early in the lounge! I really enjoyed hanging out with many of you I hadn't spent time with in a while, and look forward to many more nights like this one.
