adagio for strings - William Orbit or Tiesto?

I've checked discogs and it's pretty clear that the first original track is by William Orbit labelled as William Orbit - Barbers adagio for strings date: 99. Why is it that whichever live set I see and whenever I see this track listed eslewhere it's titled as Tiesto - Adagio for strings rather than William orbit - barbers adagio for strings(tiesto mix). Tiesto didn't make the song and while he might have remixed it, it doesn't give him the right to have songs mislabelled like that. ?

Barbar wrote it. William Orbit Pioneered it.

You clueless cretin

It's Barber who wrote it. Both Orbit & Tiesto sampled it, so in fact they did the same thing. No need for asking it to be Tiesto rmx while Orbit can be put as an artist.

Cretin? Go fuck yourself. I put a question mark at the end of the sentance for a reason. If the song is by Barbeer then why is it mislabbled by both Tiesto and W.O.?

Because they got the rights to do so. It's not really rocket science, is it.

William Orbit credited Barber in the title of the track, what more can he do?

Skip Raiders feat. Jada - Another Day

Best use of Barber's Adagio for Strings.

I'm sure i've seen this being debated before.

And Tiesto obviously didn't want Barber's name in there, because he thought it might detract from His. Although how he could be that proud of such an abomination is anybody's guess.

I can kill you with my brain. I have no recollection of frequent threads about this, so his sarcasm wasn't obvious to me, if that's what you mean.

Because it's a piece of classical music you dolt. Samuel Barber is dead and the piece is probably in the public domain. Every dance version is a cover.

Yup...it's not copyrighted and Barber's dead so anyone can sample it without any sort of permission. I think it goes that after someone dies, they're work stays copyrighted for a certain amount of years...but he's long dead.

Anyone got any actual info on this? I heard something about money going to family or something but I'm probably wrong.

I quote "In general, the rights last for approximately 70 years after the death of the author before falling into the public domain."

"In the US, after the death of a copyright holder, heirs inherit the copyright."

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-19-2007 00:29:

I'm not sure that's right... he only composed it in 1936.

Posted by Atmos on Mar-19-2007 00:42:

Yea I just looked it up...I guess all I can do is provide the info on copyrights. I don't know about the rest then...maybe Barber's heir allowed it. I'm blank.
