has anyone used autogain on the new serato?

i wanna use it, but i'm afraid because i heard some negative feedback on it... has anyone used it (with mp3's). what did you think?

bump ~ has anyone used the autogain feature on serato?

nope, i don't believe in autogain. use your ears and the level meters to help you out.

past experiences i've had with autogain (rane empath mixer) compresses certain parts of the song and not others....which just isn't good.

I use it. No problems what so ever.

I assume it autogains on the fly right? It doesnt re-encode the track right?

The best absolutely lossless way to adjust the gain on MP3.

If serato is smart, their autogain does the same thing.

SSL's auto gain is similar to mp3gain's. SSL's auto gain doesn't alter the file(s) (no re-encoding), all it does is add volume info to the ID3 tag. And no it doesn't do it in real time/on the fly, you have to scan all the files first with the build overview option.

It works pretty well, although I have noticed some songs were a little over gained and go into the red on SSL's VU meters. Just got to turn SSL's gain knobs down a little.

One thing that's better about mp3gain though is that it adjusts the waveforms size as well (i.e. bigger), SSL's doesn't adjust the waveform size.
