i hate to admit this guys...but you were right all along

behringer mixers are HEAPS OF SHIT

my djx700, after owning for 4 months and treasuring it has decides to break, for something this new and well looked after i am VERY pissed off

list of faults:

sound goes all choppy when master/booth volume is over 6
volume light strip things are all broken
EQ volume knob has to be pushed to the right to get the sound to come out of both channels
crossfader curve randomly locks on sharp cut
channel 1 fader has to be wiggled to get sound to come out of both channels
sound quality is so god damn bad its a disgrace

i cant believe im making my cdj800s suffer with this heap of crap!

so i'm gonna see if the shop can give me a refund/part exchange and get something half decent

what can you recommend for �200ish? i know i wont get 4 channels for that so 2 or 3 will have to do, but one that isnt shit would be nice!

i plugged the cdj directly into the amp to see if it sounded different, my god! do behringer use 1920s circuitry or something??!

have never had any problems in the 2 years i've had it... tho i will be looking to upgrade sometime soon

The Numark DXM06 2 channel mixer is good for the money (about �175). Had mine for about 2 years and it still works perfectly and sounds good.

There's some good effects on there as well.

i've got 5 inputs at the moment and am planning on adding vinyl soon so 6 in the future...

i just cant get my head round how something thats been use in my bedroom caringly for 4 months from brand new has broken already? its not on

that vestax looks sexy, i will look into it more

can anyone comment on how the SQ compares to the behringer? just after plugging the cdj straight into the amp and hearing lovely crisp treble and proper bone shaking bass its made me want a mixer with decent SQ

Can't say I've used one, but Vestax are a solid brand you can rely on - I guess that's the replacement for the PCV-275, which loads of people on here will vouch for being a decent mixer.

The VMC185XL looks like it's got some good features - a good fx send loop (i.e. for you to hook up an external fx unit), decent cueing facilities etc - looks like a good buy to me

i am tempted to wait til mine goes completely then ring up decks (where i bought it) and see if they can part X for a Vestax VMC004 XL with me paying the extra on top

tge behringer seems fine now! but after realising how shit the SQ really is i'll moan about the intermittent faults when i've got some money

I have to say that as far as "budget" mixers go (or rather, "affordable" mixers), if you can find anything Vestax in your price range, you'll probably be pretty damn happy

Having done tons of live sound work ( concerts and the likes ) through the years I have often come across some Behringer equipment.
Either the equipment was installed or someone was borrowing it to me.

In any case I always tried to make do with the rest and simply not use anything with the Behringer name on it.

For cheap go Vestax or Ecler. Some of the older Ecler mixers are super strongly built without the plastic feel you get from Vestax with the cheap stuff at times.

Good point actually, a NUO2 or HAK310 would also be worth a look.

I'm not sure what people's views are on the cheaper Stanton mixers? I've always found they were pretty similar in built quality to Numark (who I still don't rate incredibly high, but they tend to be better than the budget brands: citronic/gemini/kam/behringer etc) although I haven't had a vast amount of experience using them and I know a lot of people swear by Stanton and Numark mixers, for some reason.

I also own a vestax vmc-004, which i had for almost 5 months, and it is going great, not one problem can be found in it.

I hated my Stanton M.304, the fader curve was a pain in the arse and the EQ knobs were too small and fiddly.

Im not saying behringer makes the best audio equipment but its not half as bad as you guys are making it out to be. When i first started out(last summer) I bought a VMX-100 for 50 bux. I was happy becuase i had got it for a pretty good price. And concerning its structural integrity I'd rate it pretty high. As a beginer I abused the shit out of it doing retarted mixes and and all that and sure the fader and knobs wore out but that should be expected from 4 or 5 months of everyday use/abuse. But even today i can take it out of the box and it will do everything it needs to do with no problems at all. The sound quality stinks i admit but i recorded some decent sets off it and he quality wasnt horrible

Yep! I used to have a behringer VMX-200. I thought it was fine, until I bought the Vextax VMC-004. The sound quality is much better, as well as the faders, EQ, and monitoring system. I can't stress how terrible the EQs were on the Behringer... And I'll listen to mixes that I recorded with it, and it sounds tinny compared to the mixes made with the Vestax.

I've had the VMC004 for just under a year now, and it is still working perfectly. For your budget, I'd say there is nothing better.

I'm afraid I agree with Grandmaster RJT - faders wearing out after 4 or 5 months of everyday use is still pretty rubbish, even the faders on my old Gemini mixer took a couple of years before they started crackling and I was using that for hours every day when I was back at school.

I do agree that for $50 if it only lasts 4 or 5 months then it's no great loss, but if you can stretch to $200 odd and get a mixer by a more reputable brand then it'll last for years and years as a solid, reliable mixer.

The thing about Behringer is that so many folks come on here having already purchased Behringer gear (that's probably still in the post), trying to learn more about the equipment they just payed their hard earned cash for. More often than not, they then get defensive because they're either content with what they've got initially or simply can't deal with the possibility that what they just purchased and haven't even received yet is a piece of complete rubbish.

I know, I speak from experience.

We're not trying to mock users of Behringer equipment - everyone has to start somewhere. The point is simply to try to help as many people as possible avoid making the mistake of starting with Behringer, as more often than not the experience ends in complete disapointment.

pretty sure im gonna go for the VMC004 now, it looks really nice and better built than the behringer, what are the EQs like? on the behringer the low basically controls the whole track

the only problem is the fact you cant use a phono input as a line on by pressing a button

also can you switch the crossfader off?

They make shit DJ gear, but their production gear and mixing consoles are pretty nice.

I brought a VMX300.

It was crap.

I own a DJM800 now.

I am happy.
