master your mixes in higher quality. 70mb is horrible.

i would but i have to deal with the space constraints of my host site its still decent enough to listen to though. it just depends on your speakers.

well its just some good advice so that if people want to listen to it loud its not crackling or distorting. its fine at low levels but turn it up and it will sound like ass. 128k is like FM stereo quality.

i thought 96 was fm quality. 128 is close to cd quality.

You're correct...but anything less than 128 is still shitty

i agree which is why i would never encode a mix in 96kbps. but 128 is good enough for my purposes. i bet most regular people cant really tell the difference between 128 and higher bitrates. although all the tracks i use are at 320 although i dont know how much difference that makes once you burn them to a cd anyways.

and anything less than 192 is really unacceptable. If I have extra space (or for shorter mixes) 320 is great.

Posted by Clovis on Mar-20-2007 04:03:

Pretty easy for me to tell the difference between 128 and 192, then again I'm a music nerd...

its amazing how fast this thread turned into an argument over mp3 quality. dissapointing....very dissapointing

sorry that i gave some constructive criticism. i dont want to listen to something that will sound like shit in the very place i will listen to it...my car. the sound system isnt the greatest (i still need to install some stuff) but i sure as hell can tell the difference between 128 and 192 or higher.

if the tracklist looked even remotely appealing (or, I should say, not so hideously awful), then maybe I, or someone else, would have listened to it, thereby giving us anything to talk about other than the lack of music purchasing and encoding skills.

Damn this thread is cold as ice

I'll give it a listen

your criticism is well taken but like i said i have to deal with space constraints. maybe at some point in the future when i have money i'll pay to get more space. till then if you want to listen to my mixes in higher quality i can reencode them in higher bitrate and upload them on a site like megaupload or rapidshare.

whoa thats huge. but i wasnt referring to my hard drive i was talking about the site i use to host it i only get 200mb. anywho i've deleted the other mix on my page to make room for this one in 320. its gunna be a 180mb whopper. it will take a couple of hours to upload at least but hope you like it in higher quality. it actually does sound a lot better.

heres a link to a 192kbps version: [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

xstreamist.com won't let free accounts host files at more than 128.

that sucks.

and i figured you were referring to HD space not web space. just get a regular web server and host the files that way. it costs a little more but you will be happy.

well i'm not really profiting from making these mixes so no point in paying for webspace if i don't get anything for it, i don't really have money to waste either. i just mix for my own personal amusement and for the sole purpose of sharing music with other people. so the free space i get is good enough for now

Posted by |Thrax| on Mar-20-2007 22:09:

btw sendspace.com allows files up to 300MB.

thread over.
