For all of you who didn't make it out to Miami this year for the WMC, we have the next best thing for you. As part of the SUPERFREQ Express Tour with MR C (Superfreq / The End), AVALAND brings you one of electronic music's most exciting and respected new live acts, BOOKA SHADE (Get Physical / Berlin, Germany). This will be their last show of their mini US tour that has been sold out at every venue so catch them before they head back to Germany. To finish off the night, MR C (creator and resident DJ of Superfreq) will deliver superb chunks of electro, acid and minimal house in support of his first mixed cd in 7 years, Superfreq Express (find a link to his album online). Check out the youtube clip below for video footage of this legendary underground night.

Our newest resident dj trio, Droog, will be starting the night off in proper style. For those of you who got to check them out on 3/10 for their residency launch on the terrace but did not receive their latest promo, you can still get one by being one of the first 200 people though the door this Saturday. On the terrace this week will be Toshi (Rotunda Sound System) and Ubique.

BOOKA SHADE
Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier aka German producers and live act BOOKA SHADE rounded off 2006 in style. The Berliners were named by the writers at Resident Advisor, the UKs leading electronic music website, as the best live act and won the best album award for their second long-player, Movements. The album also featured in many other international end of year top 10 charts. Elsewhere on the internet, Pitchfork, the US music website, listed In White Rooms as among their best songs of last year. Closer to home, Germanys ME Sounds ranked Vertigo amongst their most important songs of all time while BOOKA SHADE won kudos in Groove Magazine end of year poll, selected as the No 2 producers and the album featuring in the top 10. Germanys top DJs voted the band as the countrys best live act, and, adding to overall acclaim for the album was the fact that Movements has also been nominated for the Plug Award in the US.

MR C
Mr C was originally most famous as the front man of The Shamen; the techno-rave outfit that scored huge hits and notoriety in the 90s with tracks like Ebeneezer Goode. But Mr C's progress, before and after he gained global fame, has been characterised by a devotion to electronic music and a solid DJ career that sees him playing around the world plus running the underground Superfreq night both in Ibiza and at The End's sister bar AKA. After forming the groundbreaking Plink Plonk record label in 1992, Mr C went on to open The End with Layo Paskin in 1996, and watched its impact on the capital: It has been a direct influence on the whole of club and bar-restaurant culture in London." The End even launched its own genre: tech house. The phrase - which can mean anything from house and techno, to breaks and tribal - signifies more of a mindset that a type of music. Says Mr C, it's an attitude. Like acid house was an attitude" The DJing style he has become best known for in recent years, however, is underground-electro-acid house, and thats the sound that fills AKA on Sunday nights.

hah, remember that time, when swamper had us discuss who we wanted as a mod, and nothing ever came of it?
ya, that was fun...

Who the heck is this "avalandhw" person? Does he/she ever read the other threads or reply back to threads?

avalandhw... If you're reading this, I honestly don't think anyone here needs your spam promotions/threads. There are enough people here who promote avalon for saturdays... who we are actually FRIENDS with and reply back to posts.
