do the control cds work if they're burnt?

a friend's backback was stolen with them inside, was wondering if we can just burn a copy or have to get new ones

Yeah they should do, if my memory serves me rightly I think you can download the timecode as a .wav from the Serato website and just burn it as an audio file to the CD.

Yes. Rane actually reccomends you make copies of the control CDs just in case shit...

you can also burn a couple "real" tracks on the cd so if the computer crashes, you have music on the cd's already. i've never had my computer crash, but its insurance...
