Genres to play between minimal and electro house?

Hey I have my 1st full timeslot coming up soon (I've done several tag team sets) and I'm going to be playing after my friend who mainly plays minimal and before my friend who plays mainly electro house.

I'm looking for a middle ground. No idea what I'm going to play til I get on the decks of course, but I do have a general idea of some tracks I'd like to play.

What style would you enjoy hearing from a DJ who is in my position?

I'm thinking depending on how he builds up his set, mixing out of 1st guy's set into some tech house with minimal elements like Client- Drive (Eyerer & Namito Mix), moving into some deep prog house such as Union Jack- 2 Full Moons and a Trout (Chab Mix) , then to some good funky house like Chris Lake- Changes (Spencer & Hill Mix), Jay Cox- Safe, and ending somewhere with groovy electro house like Michael Gray- Somewhere Beyond (TV Rock Mix).

Opinions, advice for such a slot?

Thanks!

Melodic downtempo stuff like Ulrich Schnauss, Thievery Corporation, Tosca, Zero 7, Air, some Royksopp etc and then into melodic prog like stuff on Toes In The Sand or Tilth.

ah yes terrorcore would be awesome, then move quickly into some nice slow ambient tunes.

but for cereal, thinking about throwing in some electroclash too

I'm gonna throw you off with some drum n bass.

depending on the kind of 'minimal' you could play some deep tech house and then get dirtier and or more upbeat as you go along.

I do this sort of thing a lot at large house parties where I play whatever the fuck I want before anyone shows up (read minimal and deep house) and then I get techier and play more electrohouse around peak time)

Sam, don't even worry about it and just play what you want to play. Like I said before, I may not necessarily play a lot of minimal and just end up playing tech house or progressive house. All depends on when I get there and what I think people want to hear. I never follow through with the gameplan that I walk up to the decks with.

Spot on. Get some Creme De Menthe thrown in there. Or some Jojo De Freq. Creme De Menthe with some heavy strobe lighting is still one of the pinnacles of nights out for me.

Good, it always adds to a set when there is some more melodic and deeper..more serious stuff thrown in. I guess I am a deep person so I like deep music .

Fine Taste has got some really unique melodic stuff out now
