FL Question

How do you cut off the highs on any samples of FL 6 lets say a lead youre introducing how do you cut off the highs and slowly bring them up?

with a low pass filter

Use the Fruity Filter, turn everything to 0 except the Lowpass which you set at full amount. Then you just use the Cutoff knob. Turn the x 2 to ON for a fater sound when cutting off.

And of course you open this effect on the mixer insert you're sending your lead sound to.

or you can just use the instrument window when you load the sample...i think it's the one with the envelopes. use lp or fast lp.

The x2 option turns the low pass filter from a 12dB/Octave filter into a 24dB/Octave filter.

How to explain what that means...

As you probably know, a low pass filter stops high frequency sound getting through. So the lower you set the cutoff, the more 'underwater' it sounds.

The 24dB/Octave filter has a steeper slope, so as you lower the cutoff, it rapidly and aggressively kills sound frequency above the cutoff.

The 12dB/Octave filter has a shallow slope so as you lower the cutoff, you can still hear much higher frequency sound above the cutoff point, but its greatly diminished.
