Trance Mixers

Starting out DJing, looking for a mixer. I was gonna go with the Vestax PCV-275. Is this a good mixer for spinning trance/hard trance? Are there any better mixers that that but still in the $400 range?

Hey dude, whatever you spin, this one is the best, some will say the Pioneer DJM - 600 or something is better but I stick with this one.

The Vestax PCV-275 is a great mixer, I have it and Im vey happy with it.

I like the Pioneer DJM 500 myself, I've never used any Vestax mixers though! The main things I look for in a mixer is smooth channel faders (I like a bit of resistance in there), nice easily accesible and smooth sounding EQ's and a good sound output!

The PVC-275 is a good quality mixer.. if you've got the dough, go for it!

What ever happened to the pmc270A? Cause i have this, is it gone or something? I like it and its got no problems, why did vestax make a 275?

Posted by El~ZaPo on Apr-06-2002 18:39:

The 275 basically is the 270 except the faders are better quality I think.

I have the :
and I am totally satisfied
I think a mixer doesn't make the Dj, but the Dj makes the mixer

Do you mean the channel faders or crossfader? I dont even use the crossfader anyways, just use the channel fader and keep the crossfader in the middle.

Hey man, you're right, these mixers are superior in sound quality but are indeed sooooooooo expensive, way too expensive for any beginner DJ...

I stand corrected though, Rane and A&H are the best.

Hey Guys... Can u tell me about the price of the Vestax PCV-275

I need a mixer too..
thanks

Posted by Veldrid on Apr-07-2002 04:45:

www.123dj.com has em for $389

Posted by ExcelonGT on Apr-07-2002 05:26:

Also give the Stanton RM-3s a look... It's a pretty decent mixer for the price. Its $279 at most places but can be found for 230 if you look around.

Both, the new Vestax mixers use plastic conductive faders. They take much longer to wear out. I know they upgraded the faders already (they made an offer to everybody that bought a PCV mixer in the first months they were available to replace the v1.0 faders).

Posted by Veldrid on Apr-07-2002 18:09:

ya instead of the old 100,00 crosses you used to get before the fader went bad it is closer to 1,000,000 now

Posted by emerica on Apr-07-2002 22:34:

Yeah the Vestax is a very good mixer to begin spinning. If you are a little richer, you should buy a DJM500 or DJM600 from Pionneer. If you are very very rich, get an Allen & Health :-) You can afford a Behringer DX500 for a very little price (about 200$) and a very correct sound quality, an integrated sampler and very good switches.

I have had bad experience with Pioneer. The cross faders seem to wear out so damn fast..

anyone else had this?

I was drooling over the DJM600, but now I am thinking that i might get the vestax PCV-275.

much cheaper, and it sounds like it will actually last longer.

Posted by emerica on Apr-08-2002 18:28:

I got the DJM600 for about 4 years now and a friend of me has it for much longer than me. We change only one time the crossfader. I can say also that some of my friends mix with Vestax apparels and they don't have any probs, so I think you had a bad model from Pionneer. That's no luck

You should also check the new model from Vestax, the PMC-07ProD from Samurai series, wich has a new digital crossfader, and it's as smooth as a Rane or an Allen&Health! The difference is really here! It has also new EQ faders wich are like the channels faders, it rocks, it's easier to use, imo. Take a look here:

Yeah the new Vestax are sweet.
pretty expensive though.

ah, decisions, decisions...

Posted by Xquisite on Apr-09-2002 06:26:

yeah the PCV275 is sweet. It sounds great and is easy and fun to work with. However, I am in the process of selling it since I just bought a Rane TTM56!!

If you scratch AND mix, dont get the PCV275, get a Rane OR A&H. Yes they are pricey but they're well worth it. But like I said.. PCV275 for mixing or u can go with a Ecler Smac Pro 30 which is just as good as the Vestax PCV275.

Someone mentioned Pioneer mixers being good... as an overall mixing controller it's pretty good. But if you wanted to scratch/mix, it sucks. The x-fader bleeds pretty badly real fast. Lastly, you shouldnt worry too much about the X-fader blowing out on you unless you extensively use the xfader alot. The x-fader is the only PCV component on the Vestax PCV275 from what I read. THe upfaders are still using the alps.

but basically the PCV275 is an awesome mixer if ur just going to mix. You wont be disappointed :thumb:

PCV-175 is best value for US$300

Posted by Breeze on Apr-15-2002 16:34:

Doesnt matter what u get. its all about "THE MIX". good mixer though, all depends if ya rich, doesnt it?
