A question for the music buffs

i was talking to a freind the other day, who for the most part is rather ignorant of electronica as a whole, and in my attempts to educate i put on some minimal techno, and immediately she was like
'oh synth jazz'
is minimal techno a form/variation of sythn jazz? if not is there any prime examples anyone can link up to what synth jazz truely is?
or is synth jazz, or even new age synth jazz really an accurate description of minimal (in a majority of its forms, i know minimal can get pretty tripped out sometimes)

Oh...my apologies then. I thought this was an extreme music dweeb thread (seriously).

Sorry, I've got nothing. I would argue that a lot of modern electronic music is some kind of jazz.

Edit: but still...who cares?

Posted by waynoinsano on Mar-25-2007 20:52:

see was a legitimate answer that difficult?
thats all i ask. that and perhaps a pinch of decency.
if you cant provide that, dont bother even opening my threads.
however, Jennie
i do thankyou for apologizing and adding valued input. it takes class to admit fault, and correct it. (im not being sarcastic btw)

"You whore" is a nice touch.

The fact that you called it 'electronica' shows you know nothing of the genre yourself. Well played

Electronica is THE WORST description for dance music, yuck. Sounds like something from Rolling Stone.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Mar-26-2007 01:57:

Well, let's just start by saying that your disliking of the word Electronica has absolutely jack shit to do with the fact waynoinsano was correct in saying minimal techno falls under Electronica.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronica

Electronica is a term that covers a wide range of electronic or electronic-influenced music. The term has been defined by some to mean modern electronic music that is not necessarily designed for the dance floor, but rather for home listening. The term subsequently gained a life of its own, and became popular in the United States as a means of referring to the then-novel mainstream success of post-rave global electronic dance music. Prior to the adoption of "electronica" as a blanket term for more experimental dance music, terms such as electronic listening music, braindance and intelligent dance music (IDM) were common.

Sorry try again. Unless it's just a Canadian thing. Every artist/dj I've ever spoken to agrees that Electronica is the worst term to for dance music.
